Just wondering if any one else had issues trying to sell a car
I have a car for sale on here just finding it hard to sell it on I'm not asking a mint for it in fact it's cheap
Is it the wrong time of year to sell a car
For example a 2001 106 diesel with double the miles went for twice as much I don't get it
Anyone else struggled to sell love to hear your stories

You would be better selling it locally . Plus it looks dirty inside and even though its only done 44k its a old not really desirable car .
I think £400 and it would go easy .

Clean it, good pics and stick it on local Facebook selling pages.
Under £1k adverts are free on autotrader I think. Never had a massive problem selling cars and my current car is number 28.
Tbh, if it's a bit rare or expensive I use classified adverts on ebay.
Sub £1k cars should sell easily.

I'd agree with most of the above - this is more likely to go locally to someone who isn't a car person. It's a bit of an awkward age - too new (and a bit ordinary) to interest many people on here, too old to appeal to first car type buyers. Give it a clean inside and out, back to black the bumper strips, take some photos which show off the good condition and don't show it parked in some bushes with the bonnet up and it'll sell

Get some linseed oil on the black plastic, shiny windows, clean number plate and interior.
A4 paper, FOR SALE £500, in big font, take up most the page. Under that, include your blurb about mileage, mot, cheap tax, low mpg, etc (reiterate cheap reliable nature and that it doesn't need anything spending on it or hassle) put that in a smaller font, add your mob number.
Park on a main road with signs in the window. It will sell

Corsa Bs are worth absolute buttons unfortunately. I was selling one last year, I think it went for less than £200 in the end. Full MOT, nice enough little car, but nobody wants them. 10 years from now we'll be wondering where they all went and the ones that are left will be going for decent money. That's just old car economics.

£500 is no money really. Your problem is that you are competing in a price bracket which is choc-a-block with cars in equal condition. Cheap credit has not done the banger market any good at all, tbf. As has been said, make the car ultra clean and tidy, maybe even try and hawk on a Corsa forum ( if there is one) or Gumtree and the like.

IMHO the issues are: -Corsa Bs aren't very desirable; 106s are I am afraid. -It may be low mileage but it is quite old to where mileage *may* not influence the mix as much, but some people do get taken in by numbers on a clock BenzBoy's point applies too. -It needs a clean inside. Just a good hoover inside and some baby wipes will do the trick. -You have almost no interior shots. A few of my mates are like: "Who cares what the inside looks like"? I do for one. Seeing that it's not stained with faeces, ripped to shreds inside etc. is always great. Mileage is no indicator here; I saw an E46 M3 go for sale with 32k on the clock the other week with worse seats than mine despite it having 100k less on the clock. -IMHO this forum isn't the place to sell such cars. I tried to sell my 323i on here. Despite alot of bits being done to it I had zero takers, I reckon because alot of people felt it was pricey. Once it was on Pistonheads and Gumtree it went within the week with people still calling me! Maybe I sold it too cheap. When my mate bought it prior to doing the work he struggled to find one for under £1k to put things into perspective. I'm not the best person to advertise cars but here are a few of mine to give an idea. forum.retro-rides.org/thread/175852/1997-323i-coupe-1200ono-warwickforum.retro-rides.org/thread/170240/1974-triumph-stag-auto-warwickforum.retro-rides.org/thread/167387/1989-peugeot-205-sold-warwickSo, I've been harsh I admit and potentially against RR's MO. Time for some positivity If it were me I'd do the following: -Clean the inside out and deal with the black plastics; a hairdryer can work, or worst case, just get some Bumper Black onto them. -Take more photos of the interior, including the front of it and the back clearly showing the inside of the car. If you can take them not on your driveway; the shots will come out better. Keep your thumbs out of the pics too . -Put it onto Autotrader & Gumtree with the amendments as said. -If you really need shot of it put it onto eBay. 99p, no reserve. It will sell and IME for a reasonable price too. Follow akku 's guide in the How-To section. It's a great read. I've seen people fighting over a mate's Clio 1.2 he put up for sale with this! Enough so that he removed it from eBay to sell to the highest bidder! Finally, if the above sounds like too much effort you'll have to accept it won't go for its full price. Remember a few traders put in this legwork for this very reason; you're competing with them at this price point.

From a personal point of view to add to the above ...
An untidy interior gives an impression of car thats not been looked after,if you cant keep inside clean, what else can you not be bothered to do. I like to see a good engine bay shot gives an idea of how car has been looked after, an open bonnet with no way of seeing into engine bay looks like you’re hiding something ( esp given first impression with untidy interior)
Move vehicle out of the weeds when taking pics, along with the previous points, looks like its been parked there for a while.
Not saying the above us the case, but thats how it looks on the pictures.

As all of the above, you're not selling the car you're just saying 'this is my car and this is what I want'. Photograph it against the nice new fence and block paving over the other side, not the bit of overgrown waste ground it's on now, turn the car round as necessary. Because that shows you look after things, it might be subliminal but it works. Don't leave it in the puddle from where you washed it, nobody wants the damp patch.

Tbh, if it's a bit rare or expensive I use classified adverts on ebay. Sorry to OP for slightly off topic question but how do you do classified ads on ebay for cars? I'm sure I did one a couple of years ago for my 750i but when I came to list my RX7 recently, I searched all over the site and it wouldn't give me the option for classified ad, only buy it now or auction (typically I listed it as buy it now, someone 'bought it now' and never turned up ¬¬ ) I wasn't sure if the classified ad feature had been limited to business sellers or something?

It's there, just a pita to find. I couldn't find it on the ipad and had to use the laptop. Its a tick box near the price bit, whereas it used to be a option early on when listing.

Also, if the carpets look cack, you can get fitted mats for about £12 delivered from eBay.
If you spend a few hours cleaning, polishing, taking good pics, and writing a good advert. You could possibly get more than the asking price.
For the type of car and price point, Facebook selling pages are perfect tbh. Free advert on Gumtree and autotrader wouldn't go a miss either.
If you want top money, put some effort in. If you list it on ebay classified ads, over price it a bit and tick the make an offer option, turn auto accept off!

Looks tidy but base model b's are currently worth very little.
Stick it on eBay or the Corsa B Facebook page, people are starting to buy tidy examples just because their tidy and numbers are dwindling.

got to be worth the asking with a bit of elbow grease and detailing? a whole useable car for less than the cost of a service or pair of tyres on a new exec or 4x4?...no brainer!

I've tried to sell several cars on here with zero results, a 1 owner 205D, a Tigra, a Saab Turbo convertible and a Cavalier. As of today I have a Corsa B to sell myself, it's a scruffy 1.0 litre 5 door that was my son's first car. It has 11 months MOT and a new clutch and is solid underneath. but the laquer is peeling all over it and there are plenty of dents and scuffs. I really can't be arsed to polish this turd for a few extra quid so it will go on the local FB selling page for £200 ONO in the hope of getting £150 for it. I put a nice, tidy, Black Corsa SXi 1.2 3 door with lots of new bits and a fresh test on EBay last year, 99p start, no reserve and it made £210, not worth the time I spent cleaning it! I know how to write an ad and I know how to take a picture to show the car to it's best advantage, but some cars just don't seem to be selling lately and the Corsa B is one of them!

There's certain places where you buy cars, and certain places where you sell cars.
They are usually NOT the same place from what I've found.
Has the OP tried Gumtree or Autotrader as well?

I’ve sold four cars via here Many more via car and classic and classic car weekly Desperation to sell never works and constant bumps on here seem like desperation to sell I always put my cars on here first then car and classic As said a good clean inside and out is always the key And I find total honesty in a car ad will always stand you in good stead in the future selling car There’s a buyer for every car it’s just worth taking time to find that buyer I have had calls on certain cars and told the caller straight if I feel the car is not for them, I’ve never sold a car via eBay, yes I’ve listed them On there but been inundated with messers Car an classic for me, there is a more modern section on there too Cheers Danny
