SIMCA & Matra at the PC Restoration Show at the NEC

We were, in fact, two cars short for the stand. A now rare SIMCA 1301S owned from new in our treasurer's family developed brake problems on the M25 and had to be recovered. Also one of our (very welcome) young members had fitted a new engine to his mint condition 1970 SIMCA 1000 and had hit 'teething troubles. I would have trailered it to the NEC but my trailer and tow car were busy getting the racer there. We were involved in some work on the stand. Dick Husband, our President, worked on getting his 1954 SIMCA Grand Large pillarless coupe back to its original shine after the moss/green slime of a spell of storage. I gave the orange racer a general brake etc going over after a some hard use at a NBlyton Park trackday the previous Friday.

A new member has joined SIMCA Club UK. who owns a SIMCA Abarth coupe. I asked him about having it on the stand but it's a non runner at present. I'm sure, as it's the restoration show we could have descended on it with the spasnners and diagnosed the problem.
I'd have loved to have given the 1000 Rallye 2 Youngtimer racer a go at the RR Goodwood event but, along with many of the UK SIMCA, MATRA & Talbot fanatics, I'll be over in Belgium the previous weekend at the International SIMCA, MATRA Talbot meeting at Libramont in the Ardennes and will be spending a while there looking up SIMCA contacts.
We'll definitely be up for a club stand at RRG18 in August though.
