Bit of an intro as well as showing my latest project.
I have an almost unhealthy varied taste in cars but generally pre 89 stuff all the way back to the 20's.
Testing the water to see if theres any love/interest for my latest - a 71 el camino in a very yellow, yellow.
I took delivery last year and put it straight in the garage whilst I finished and moved on other projects, the last project (series 3 land rover) is almost done and will be sold to fund a new workshop at home. Hopefully il be able to get out in the evenings as the workshop will be in garden rather than having a 40min round trip.
Plans will be...change the colour, mot then DRIVE IT...must not sell as soon as its done , have to remind myself to DRIVE IT. I have a habit of never keeping them longer enough to actually enjoy and drive, I must really enjoy laying on my back underneath them getting shap and crit in my eyes etc..
I only have a couple of bad pics of when it arrived

Thanks for the interest, updates won't be too quick at the moment unfortunately due to having a young family, workshop to build, move old workshop to new when it's built etc..etc..and generally not enough money to go round!! @quatermass, you won't see it unless you knock on my door - be good to meet up anyway as I don't have any mates.... (into car stuff). Like your scimitar, my dad had one in about 1993 when I was 13 or 14 which we worked on every weekend so have a soft spot for them, loved the sound of the essex! I used to drive it on Ford aerodrome as there were no gates and there was a vast amount of concrete with no one else around.

Hey, I have no car friends either! In fact, a few of us on hetr have created a club, BNMAC*, in order to have a club stand for people with no mates at RetroRides Goodwood in May. *BNMAC = Billy No Mates Automobile Club. I know exactly how it is to have a young family. It's hard to find time for car projects with a young family. You have my sympathy. However, I do not know how it is to have a workshop. It's hard to do car projects properly without a workshop. You have nothing but my bitter jealousy on that one. Oh, and meant to add. If you fancy a meet up let me know. I'm always up for local meet ups with car people! I'm between Brighton & Worthing.

Definitely meet up, I just need to get the el Camino mot'd and then registered so I can be mobile in something remotely interesting.

what's wrong with a very yellow yellow? I don't like drawing attention to myself as I'm the shy type and felt the yellow says look at me...( think I may have the wrong car in that case) seriously though the pictures make it look a bit better than it actually is, although a good polish would probably change things for the better.

If the Yellow wasn't original certainly gives another reason to change, but different treatment with period inspired stripes/chrome/vinyl could change its character nicely, especially with their popularity in the era.

Originally it was a light metallic green, I don't really like that colour either, so would look at a different but probably original colour for the car. Mine does have black stripes on the bonnet but a black vinyl or just painted black roof may well look good. I think for now il get it on the road and see if the colour grows on me.
