Thought I'd do a thing on here, seeing this seems to be the busiest forum I visit these days. Picked up this little swedish import mk1 last year... Or the year before that, I forget. Got it Mot'd and registered and ran it last summer, lowered and notched on some banded 13's........... Comfortable..

You make it look like an easy job. Nice car by the way. I like the silver steel rims. They look good on your car. Nice and clean.

Thanks man, to be honest I chose the G40 as it keeps the car small block. But nothing seems easy at the moment, it’s fighting me, I have no time. It's peeing me off to be honest, but hey ho.... first world problems and all that!

Nice early small rear light Mk1. Will be epic with the addition of a whining G-lader. Look forward to the updates.

Yeah should be badass with a G in it.
I’ve owned a lot of mk1’s, an early car was always the priority so had to snap this up. Being an October 74, it’s very early indeed.

Ohhh yes! Bookmarked.
That's lovely, it has a nice patina to it and looks excellent on the bandits. As for the G40 motor, it's a perfect choice in my eyes. Good colour combo too.

It was very much a just bang it in and drive it job to be honest, it was a 1.6 Auto before and hateful to drive... I wanted to turn it around to give me cash for the swallow.
I do miss it tho!

And because I have nothing of worth to add in terms of car updates, here’s a picture of it from summer.

I’ve had 17 mk2s, 2 of which were 1.6 autos and i agree, they’re dog curse word to drive. One of them i converted to manual in a weekend in a car park in January. One of the most awful jobs I’ve ever done but was so worth it!

So I’ve been fannying about again as usual. The mounts finally have new bushes in, the 4 branch has his lambda boss welded in too. The inlet, sump, throttle body have new gaskets, other stuff has new seals too. Also fitted the throttle cable from a golf rallye, looks like it should work. Next I’ll send away the charger for a rebuild, I’ll also convert it all to a 6 rib belt setup and 65mm pulley and chip, Gould give it a little pep up. Now I’m stuck with fueling, as I was gonna drop the lift pump from the g40 into this tank, but swallowtails being swallowtails, the bloody sender isn’t in the top of the tank like all other golfs..... it’s at the bottom/side of the tank, so I assume the lift pump won’t work correctly in that position? Anyway.... Took the grand total of one picture.... I’m so 5hit at this but hey ho...

Charger is off for a rebuild. I purchased a bar-tek 5pk belt kit for the charger too with a 70mm pulley. Nothing too silly. Other than that I’ve done curse word all. Tried a wheel on tho.
