As I was working Sunday night ive only just got around to watching it
Not really been a huge fan of Top Gear or The Grand tour Since the original three moved to Amazon
But the last episode was a much better deal finally no Celebrity guff and it actually seemed aimed much more towards Car Guy/Girls
Still had some of the normal stuff " We need to race to this point for some reason"
The cover of the Kei cars was a little Negative as there is plenty of interesting cars vans etc.
Loved the cinematography during the bosuku and the shot of Rory pulling up to get in the Porsche was brilliant.

Seems to be another marmite episode, I loved it. People still moaning though.
I think TG have finally found their feet, Rorys bit was fantastic tbh.

Just watched it last night myself, and I have to say I really enjoyed it! As above, no celebrity rubbish was a bonus, but ruining the RX and the Skyline was pointless and wasn't even funny. Surely they realise that kind of stuff doesn't impress petrolheads?
Otherwise a great episode. Loved seeing the kei and boso stuff. Chris and Matt have more chemistry every episode as well!

I think Rory is spot on, you could really see his passion and genuine excitement during the bozo and lambo sections.
All in all a really good episode :-)

I enjoyed it, thought it captured a slice of Japan nicely. I also don’t like to see old cars getting bashed about but overall a great episode. so where do I go t form my own opinion? (where can I stream/download/watch this) BBC iPlayer :-)

johnnyizegemIf you use a vpn in your browser to 'convince' iPlayer you're in the uk you should be ok - or you could try [cough] bitorrent I really liked this one - with most people on the same points - Firstly, Loved the absence of the boring celeb lap thing. Rory's sense of awe and wonder with the bosozokus and Lambos was infectious - I was grinning ear to ear Loved the anime elements edited into first GTT vs RX7 segment. I have to say I thought they were going to go Full-on Initial-D when I saw the yellow RX7 - I was like 'Le Blanc's car HAS to be a white AE86 Sprinter Trueno" I have no idea what the strapping the cars together was meant to achieve. Very strange idea.

I’ve really warmed to Rory. You can tell he’s passionate and genuinely excited about the reviews he does. I’m still not set on Chris and Matt though, Matts very wooden and you can tell he doesn’t understand a lot of the “British” banter, and Chris just tries a bit to hard in my opinion.

I've watched both series of GT, my take on it is that it is a pure clone of Old, New Top Gear. They aren't really doing anything new. From what I have seen of the latest series of Top Gear I have really enjoyed. It's been more enjoyable to watch than series two of GT. They seem to be trying a few new ideas out and starting to put their own take on things. Yeah there are still bits I am not overly interested in, but on the whole I think they have done a pretty good job so far. Better than most of the dross on TV. I love the RX7, it's one of my fav cars ever, do I care that they ruined that one, no not really. It'll raise the profile of it and maybe inspire people into saving a few that might otherwise have ended up fragged. It's only a bit of bodywork damage, if someone really wanted to fix it, it could be done, so to my mind it isn't completely ruined anyway.

Having had 2 FD’s over 12 years I nearly cried when they wrecked the one they had. Just no need for it. Would of been so much better to see them race some more or another funny clip, but not tie them together and bash them up for no good reason. Sadly though when you have a budget as big as theirs, a couple of ‘cheap’ cars like that is nothing to them. Saying that, I’d happy have it off them and fix it back up.
Loved the rest of the episode to and thought Rory’s bit was excellent too. Japs do like to do things a bit different don’t they. One day I’ll go and see it all first hand

I'm still catching up, but the first two episodes seem to have really found their stride.
Even the wife (rather critical of the Chris Evans series and the last one fronted by Joey from friends) admitted to rather enjoying it, rather than previous comments about how the old trio were better.
We haven't paid for Amazon to watch GT, but can't say we're missing it either.

I watched and finally enjoyed an episode after a long time (including the end of the previous incarnation). As above loved alot about the episode, really loved Rory's bit as the excitement he had came across on screen when he was doing his segment, I wish we'd seen more about it and maybe abit more of the history (though maybe not as indepth as James May's cars of the people espisode). I moaned on faceache about the destruction and was told not to be so whiney because the FD was poorly resprayed and low spec and the Skyline wasn't in the best nick either with some problems. But really as a petrolhead and a massive fan of Japanese cars it annoyed me to needlessly destroy them for cheap laughs when it wasn't necessary. It's horrid to put a rank on them but they weren't common cars they were two names from Japan that really headlined their car building talents and put them onto the map, even if they were slightly ropey versions they were ropey versions of top quality 90's Japanese metal. grrr. Although if it was my way all of the cars going through the auction would be saved and restored... wouldn't be profitable though

Most of it has already been covered. I do find it annoying how competitive Chris Harris is over EVERYTHING. However Matt is so laid back, that he really doesn't bite or care, which offsets it.

matt and chris have raised their banter game since season1, i am pleased! although i would rather it not be at the expense of chris' credibility (seems to be turning into jerry lewis and dean martin) chris becoming a weird 1950s stooge to Matts straight man act.
I would not miss Borey Reid if he were replaced. no charisma, not particularly funny or entertaining, not very talented presenter, and that stupid wrecking ball laugh. Jason dawe was terrible too, they replaced him with james may and it clicked....
