How many of us have a car that just ‘does it’ for us? If asked why,you might even find it difficult to say why..... You may not even know why yourself. I’m not talking something you want because its a technical marvel,a financial investing or the ultimate driving experience....... It might not even be a ‘good car’ in a technical sense, could be the most unreliable piece of machinery ever thought up .... but you don’t care. I’m not talking about looking at a car and thinking to yourself ‘that looks nice’ its got to go deeper ..... Just a few of mine ..... The Countach ... would not even be able to fit in it,let alone drive one,but i’d have one just to look at! Triumph Stag .. Bently Turbo R ... Rolls Royces never did anything for me But a fast Bentley really floats my boat. De Tomaso Pantera. Sigh .... Maestro.... a fast one .... something about these ... Land Rover 110 Sw this one was mine,i’ve a number of Land Rover products now, some more comfy, faster, better off road, economic etc etc,but none of them can match how i feel about the 110 ......

Out of all the cars ive ever had, or even driven that wernt even mine. My old Lada Riva 1500. I saw it, I sat in it, i bought it. Then I drove it. Hard to describe exactly why, it was like driving something really old and agricultural, but easy to drive and well put together. Just felt natural and right and all those weird things.

Like the look of the old Pantera myself. It's on the list of cars I fancy but will never own. I have a strange passion for BMC fwd stuff, particularly Minis, ADO16s and Allegros. I've had seven of these since I got my licence in 1983 and dailied all but one of them (which was an off road project that never got finished). Also fancy the Ford Consul 315 sedan. Like the American styling in a car that isn't huge. Drove one once and loved it, should have bought it.

Has to be my old GTi Engineering MK2 Golf GTI I had when I was 19. Still miss it. Nothing in the world could touch it then. Ten years later and I'm still trying to find a car that did everything just as well as that, and made me feel a million dollars driving it. Every single fibre of the car made me feel alive. I paid €1200 for it. Now a decent one similar is 10k Just bought a modern descendant (my first petrol daily drier in over ten years), VW Eos with the 2.0 turbo lump straight out of the GTI. It's getting the old skool touches (burbly exhaust and filter, and a top class set of coilovers) and there to enjoy the drive.

sorry , I'm just a walking talking cliché....but I'd have to say a classic 911 simply to drool over , polish and try not to kill myself in! but for basic motoring pleasures it would have to be a.... the tactile connection to the road surface , the induction and exhaust notes and the element that I only identified in a conversation with a friend a while ago , the gloriously mechanical simplicity , feel and sound of the door handles operating. mk1's really do hit the spot with me.

I loved both my mk1 gti and mk2 gti Golf's(a late 82 1.8 lhasa green and a 91 8v 3dr in Pearl Grey) both were brilliant cars and still i have yet to find cars that did what they did as well. (so much so the mk1 is still in storage 12 years after i really should of sold it...) However the one that i will always go back to as the best, most enjoyable, most fondly rose tinted specs wearing, giggle every time i drove it was... #not actual car82 Alfasud 1.5 ti x . It wasn't reliable, it did 14mpg if i was lucky when pressing on with its twin Dellorto's singing to the 8.5k limiter (it was slightly fettled in the engine department)but it handled like nothing else and was the best point to point / smiles per mile car i have driven, and there have been may more silly, exspensive more powerful wannabe's in the 20+ years since. The orange velour interior and plastic wood trim inserts was a costeting vision of the 70's in a mid 90's world, i would have it back in a heartbeat had it not majestically failed its MOT due to front of the car being so rotten it was held on by the front engine mount and the wiring loom... It donated parts to the survival of others and the rest went to the scrap man for 75p... But I still have the steering wheel and keys on the wall in my garage, despite numerous house moves and that i think says it all... Saying all that give me the keys to an Alfa Montreal and i would be okay... (who doesn't love a quad cam v8...)

Loved my old Volvo 122S estate, still the most comfy car i've ever had and strong, reliable and fairly quick too.
The wish list includes (but not limited to) A Consul Capri, a 1966 Pontiac GTO, a 67 Iso Grifo Lusso, A Skoda Rapid (S110R) and a Standard Atlas van.

Ha - where do I start on this one ? Many many moons ago I had a MK ll Capri JPS (no pics I'm afraid) and that was just a gorgeous car and great fun to drive, also, way back in the day I had quite a few MK 1 Escorts including a couple of 1300 E's and a 1300 GT which were also great fun. But my current E30 318 is, is one of my fav cars ever it's just a great car to drive, loves to rev, goes great on the twisty bits, and I still think the E30, particularly the 2 door, is probably one BMW's most iconic cars, loved the world over, OK so the 318 is, isn't a patch on it's M3 sibling, or not as powerful as its other sibling, the 325 Sport, but it is such a great little car. I've had it almost 4 years, and I'm only the second owner, but I've spent something akin to the national debt of Greece on it but, I just love it and doubt if I'll ever sell it. I'm currently on the lookout for an E30 Touring ! to keep it company
