so ive been trying to find out how to do something with some leds and have watched a fair few youtube videos on the subject and it just frys my brain.
i was wondering if anyone here can point me in the right direction. i picked up this huge infinity mirror from a local charity shop and it has lighting inside all the way round 36 bulbs and i would like to change it to leds, i imagined running it on a 12v transformer power supply or an led driver like what they use for led light tape. The problem I'm having is working out what resistors i need to use there will be 36 5mm warm white leds and as before ideally a low voltage transformer to power it . any tips appreciated

Why don't you use mains LED bulbs? Failing that you could use LED strip like you said installed all the way round the inside, that stuff is 12V out of the box. Or get a big bag of white pre-resist LEDs from eBay for pittance and use those. I have a load of hyper bright ones I use for my model locomotive headlamps, 32 of them would be quite bright..

Maplin staff are usually very helpful, can be hit and miss but you can use any power supply you want, find one in a draw and then ask the guy on the components counter based off the info on your transformer what resistors and how many.

Yea, saw it this morning to be fair. Shame, really handy components retailer. I'll be a bit stuck when and if they go.
