many moons a go I was given a gerber "suspension" multi tool as a gift , it was far too nice to get mullered in the garage so I keep it in a drawer in the utility room for those quick domestic jobs. recently I took it out for just one of those jobs but when I opened it one of the tension plates that holds it open in pliers form simply snapped. given that it was about 12 years old I thought I would simply see if I could buy a replacement part but it seems its easier to get unicorn testes than spares for these tools! gerber do however give a 25 year warranty and despite not having any proof of purchase (as it was as gift) I sent a "nothing to loose" email that evening to fiskars who handle uk warranty claims. very first thing the next morning I received a reply asking for a picture and my details and just ten minutes after supplying these I had a further reply apologising profusely and stating that I would receive brand new replacement within 5-10 days and also that there was no need to return the damaged one. just over a week later the new one dropped through the letter box. its a long time since I have been so impressed with a company and their service!

Thats so nice to see proper service rather than the usual corporate tosh.
It does go both ways though , i deal with all sorts of hydraulic components and 95% of returns are because they have broken it , rounded off things , stripped threads , or simply used something cheap to do the wrong job and filled it with rust and muck because they do not fit filters etc .
Of course its always returned as they ' did not need it ' rather than them knackering it .
Another favourite is to buy something identical to what they bought a year ago and swap them over , sending you the old one for a refund ! [ Nigerian speciality ]
Anyway , its a nice thing to see the human touch as its missing from most of society nowadays .

Some yrs ago we purchased one of those metal bolt together Gazebos, you the type,metal that makes a 20yr old Discovery body look good ...... anyhow I digress... swmbo got this through one of her catalogue things she does.... it was made by Blackspur Tools, (Pound shops etc are littered with their offerings ......) and when we tried to put it together 2 of the frames were different to the rest,and would not fit, ...... so photos taken and an email sent ...... didn’t expect much in return ..... but ......
Next morning got reply from Blackspur .... profuse apologies then someone rang swmbo to apologise again and they sent out replacements next day delivery ......
Products not the best, but I cannot fault the customer service.

i work in retail and see every dodgy trick in the book being pulled by "customers" returning goods on a daily basis.
if i could have bought a replacement part i would have been more than happy to replace it myself , this outcome really was unexpected though.
reminds me , i must email fiskars to thank them again.

Only ever broke one Gerber blade (but I was ham-fisted and using it as a pry-bar, so I don't really class that as a warranty issue).
The holsters leave a lot to be desired though..One has a failed belt loop, another has worn out at the bottom to the point the tool nearly falls through it and the third (a Suspension like yours) - the velcro failed within weeks, the tool popped out somewhere and now lost forever.. Maybe I should try an email to Fiskars?

Samsonite sent me free replacement keys for my suitcases, and it was obviously my fault I'd mis-placed them.
Great customer service.

Are all the suitcase keys the same then or did you have a key number? be a bit worried if they all use the same key!

Are all the suitcase keys the same then or did you have a key number? be a bit worried if they all use the same key! My suitcases have a 3 digit lock number engraved onto the lock. My two suitcases have different keys despite being bought together at the same shop. |
