How do you paint inside a welded box section or sill, somewhere you cannot access with aerosol or brush, what tools and products do you recommend, thanks

I put some paint on before closing the box section off, and near where the welds would be I used weld-through primer, though I'm not sure the stuff I used was significantly better than normal red-oxide. Then stick a load of your chosen wax product in once done. I don't think there's a 100% successful way to do it, other than to have suitable air and drain holes and dip the shell, but I'm watching here in case anyone has any great ideas.

A product called Dinitrol ML - applied with standard Shultz type gun with a flexible lance attached if you have access to a compressor but also available in aerosol format and they do a lance attachment for that too - laboratory tested proven product and used by OE vehicle manufactures - I have been using it in my restorations for many years - you may have to drill some holes for the lance to access the box section - but so worth doing - link below www.dinitroldirect.com/classic-car-restoration/ |

On the mini sills I blocked up the drain holes and then literally filled them completely with about 5l paint, left it to soak into any little crevices for a few hrs then drained it out. Seems to have worked a treat, sills still solid after over 10 years.

I have done a "mop" by attaching a sponge to a long rod and running it down the length of the sills on an MGB. If you can get a 1/2 drill motor on the end of your rod it will fling the paint around to where you want it. Only way to get any paint in the two box sections. I use POR for this type of activity.
This is a very messy process by the way and uses a lot of paint.

IF PANELS ARE FIRST PAINTED on the inside 1 TO 2 DAYS BEFORE it saves a lot of paint and mess , then as before spray a mix of zinc and stonechip paint inside for 2nd covering . this way paint gets into every nook cranny, samewith wax oil when car is done

Brilliant, lots to consider among that lot. The job in particular is a welded subframe that is off the car so going from your advice I will spray plenty of primer in first and rotate the work to get as much cover as possible, then paint to seal the primer, then stonechip.
Like the idea of dipping or filling the part with paint, would love to be able to do that.
The Dinitrol looks like good stuff, I like the fact that manufactures use it, always a good recommendation, thanks really helpful info.
