The corolla was carbd and had a mechanical fuel pump on the engine. The 3SGE is EFI.
There's no way I can fit an intank pump as the sender and fuel supply are in 2 seperate places so I purchased an inline BOSCH pump.
Question:
Do I need to put it near the tank to make it easier to pull the fuel through. It would be considerably easier of I could mount it on the bulkhead. Will this be an issue? The fuel pump is capable of delivering more than enough fuel for the engine.
I can't imagine there being a problem as long as the fuel lines are air tight.

I'd worry about the drain back and it running dry on start up, might cause damage...and if you do a bit of hard cornering, that can run it dry too.
Might be best to have a surge tank fed by a rear mounted low pressure pump.

The inline, Bosch style roller cell pumps are not good suckers and much prefer to push. Ideally it would be mounted low down and near the tank and connected with reasonably large bore pipe. They tend to have 10 or 12mm inlets and 8mm outlets. Bosch ones have an internal strainer but most of the copy ones don't. An inline strainer (not a filter, they cause too much restriction) is a very good idea.
If these things are made to work too hard on the suction side, they cavitate. If it sounds like it's pumping gravel, it's cavitating. They tend to die young if run like that.
If you can't manage the above then Andy's suggestion about a surge tank is good.

Ahh penis. Its a genuine BOSCH. Guess I will have to find a place for it to live nearer the tank.
Baaahh more work.
Thanks.

the Bosch 044 I have has a non return valve on the outlet, to keep it primed.
Mine is mounted on the chassis rail in the engine bay, it gargles for 1/2 second when ign. is turned up before changing to a constant hum. This summer I intend to fit it under the fuel tank to make it live longer..
If the pump is not mounted at or below the base of the fuel tank and without a check valve, you may find you cut out before the tank is empty,
