Hey all,
Bit of a lurker, thought I'd show off the current crop of retroness taking up my driveway... The Audi was an unplanned addition last year, not my usual type of thing but lovely nonetheless. It's a 2.6e which is a really smooth V6 motor with a good amount of power... it's a car that doesn't truly get going until you're past 60mph, rock solid at speed too. Like I said, I haven't much experience with these, but they really are a well built thing, this one has just over 200,000 miles on it and drives better than most cars I've had!
Came to me from a work colleague who, after owning the car for 15 years, was struggling to get the emissions under control. He's a more mature guy, who by his own admission is getting too old to be getting under old cars! Anyway, I replaced the spark plugs and leads and serviced the car. A blocked CO2 sensor pipe to the ECU was unblocked (thanks internet!), and the MOT passed without issue. Body wise, the car was great apart from the front wings... I replaced them with good used ones, no rust but a very slight colour mismatch. Underneath the car is rock solid... whatever they built them out of was good stuff. The wheels are Fittipaldi 15", which I think suit the car perfectly (very 90's), and have been on from just about new according to the previous owner. If anyone's got a couple of centre caps for them I'd be interested! The interior has worn well, the driver's seat has worn but isn't through, and the rest is just about perfect. Great all round visibility and the glass has a cool blue tint (well I think it's cool anyway!).
More pics, with the new wings on...
And an interior shot...
Cheers all, really great to see all the variety of cars on this site.
