Had a quick search, seems 2013 was the last regret thread, but lets keep it to "the one" that churns your stomach! It just so hurts me to even think about it, I bought it for a pound, went all over the country in it, used it to carry building materials on my house refurb, ticked all my boxes....what was I thinking

Many years ago in the days before interweb I owned various Audis GT Coupes, most ended up in a mangled mess but one survived kinda, after an unplanned meeting with a cosworth the front end was rebuilt but never painted and it didn't get a new bumper. eventually after being laid up due to CV failure for about a year (I didn't have more any money left to fix it) I reluctantly sold it to a chap who was going to restore it. I always regretted selling it and about 15 years later it appeared on Ebay for £200 in the same condition that I had sold it as he never got around to restoring it but at the time I didn't have any money nor anywhere to store it, apparently the owner then scrapped it as no one wanted it.

Bought my Grandads Vauxhall Cavalier 1900GL, he’s bought it new and I had every receipt for it from day 1
I was given a spares car, in the same colour, and had nearly every spare to keep it going for ever too,
But lost my storage, and after it sitting outside for a while not getting enough use I sold it.
My biggest regret is letting it go to a lady who needed a runaround as she scrapped it as soon as it started needed a bit of maintenance, it couldn’t find anyone who wanted it as a classic

Without doubt, my W140 CL500 - everything you could ever want in a car and a boatload more. (Except cheap spares!)

mk2 polo boulevard. (basically a tarted up 1.3S) my first and only foray outside of vauxhall hatchbacks, wonderful car, great fun to drive, great handling, great build quality. sold it for tuppence to a lady who was so in love with it, vowed to cosset it like a family puppy until the end of time, but then rapidly sold it and the polo spent rest of its life sunk to its axles miserably rotting under a yew tree in a graveyard

Bruce, my Mini 1275GT. I adored this car, but it had so many little niggles that I shifted it on in the mid 90s through the Mini Club I was in at the time. I simply didn't have the knowledge at the time (or the budget) to solve what were effectively really easy problems to sort - it needed new suspension cones & knuckles (easy), a pair of decent seats, very easy, a decent tune-up and ideally a recon gearbox. Oh, and some new tyres. It went like a scolded cat, was bad-tempered and an absolute bar steward. A woman in the club bought it, gave it to her daughter who then proceeded to start having it "restored" at a so-called Mini specialist who did next to nothing with it after stripping it (I think there were disagreements between them - for what reasons, I don't know). My friend managed to take all the mechanical bits away but the shell was lost. I would love it back now, especially seeing as genuine GTs are really shooting up in value.

For me it's my beloved e28 M535i. Absolutely adored this car, though she was rough as hell, she was solid, reliable and a riot to drive. Was an ultra rare dog-leg manual car too! Worst of all I sold her for about £600 when they were worthless. Now there's no way I can afford one!
