	I have been into rc models for longer than I will admit. I ran the local model car club for a good number of years & have raced all sorts from 1/18 off road to 1/5 and 1/4 scale. I still have a couple of my 1/18 scale cars along with a 1/5 scale electric rc off road motorbike but the majority of my rc modelling that I do these days is 1/14 scale rc trucks and trailer. I currently have one finished truck and trailer with another truck and trailer that are mid build. A few photos of the finished truck. The refer trailer is currently undergoing a colour change from the light grey. I want the refer trailer to be bright silver but will have to see how it goes. I am currently working on a 6x4 Scania with a modified body & the trailer that is under construction is a 20ft skelly trailer for a 20ft container.

	That looks stunning! The detail is excellent. Looks real! How many if any speeds does the gearbox have? I'm curious

	Thanks. The extra detail parts added do bring the models to life. The trucks have a 3 speed gearbox in forward and reverse along with working lights and indicators on truck and trailer (I use the suzies to power the lights on the trailer for that little extra).

	A bit of a update due to getting a bit done to the trailer project that I started a few years ago. Its a 20ft skelly trailer for a 20ft container & is a Hercules Hobby model as Tamiya never actually made a 20ft container trailer or container. The tamiya container trailer uses super single type wheels and tyres where this uses dually axles & this is where the trailers issue starts as there was very little running clearance in the wheel arches and with the suspension which caused a certain amount of binding of the wheels and it wasn't a good roller. When I originally built it the binding/clearance issue soon became apparent but as I couldn't see a easy fix at the time it got put on the shelf and forgotten about. Well till this week. After catching the dreaded lurgy I decided it had sat there & gathered dust far too long. It was stripped of the axles and suspension in the hope I could resolve the issue The issue was quite quickly found this time round. The wrong axle tubes provided with the kit which didn't provide any clearance for the dually wheel set up. I had a choice I could search ebay for the axle tubes that would offer clearance for the daully wheels or could get the dremil and needle files out. Easy choice took the free option & if it didn't work would buy some new axle tubes. All was reassembled & this time around everything worked as it should. It was time to take everything apart again as I had already decide when I first built the trailer that I wanted it painted a typical container trailer colour and wasn't leaving it black as they come. Got it all in primer yesterday. Today it got its final coat of colour before reassembly. No photos of the paint today as its been banished to the garage for the evening as the plasticoat paint I have used is quite strong smelling. I will update with more photos and the final assembly as things move on. I have already added holes in various places for the wiring for the lights so it will be a fairly easy case of making a light loom for the trailer and adding some LED's to the rear lights. Along with the 20ft trailer I have also got a grand hauler that the kids bought me as a xmas gift a couple of years ago. Thats been sat unfinished as got sidetracked after I had built the chassis & painted the body but just never got around to finishing. Once the 20ft trailer and its container are done I will be moving onto the grand hauler. One amusing thing is the 20ft trailer is actually shorter than the chassis length of the grand hauler.

	After far longer than expected the 20ft skelly trailer and container are finally finished. Trailer was painted and wiring loom done quite quickly once I got motivated. Getting the container done took quite a bit more effort than expected as it decided it wanted to fight me at every stage. Once I got the sides and top cut out it quickly became apparent that they are moulded from far thinner material to the original tamiya & the sides/top easily distorted between the mounting screws. Being smaller than the original tamiya, 20ft size instead of 40ft, I hoped it wouldn't be a issue. Ended up reinforcing the top and sides where they mount to give the container a little more rigidity. Next issue after assembly and painting was the decals were badly printed/faded so had to go on the search for some new decals. Decided to stick with the maersk branding as the container had already been painted and I have a original 40ft tamiya container to build at some point so thought I would do both containers as maersk containers, instead of the maersk sealand decals that came with the 20ft container kit. Overall I am fairly happy with how its turned out.

	That’s looking excellent! Top work. I’m just having a lunch break from replacing the front bumper on my King Hauler daycab so a pleasant thread update for a mojo boost! details on trailers is so easily overlooked but that’s fab.

	With the trailer and container being Hercules Hobby it always had quite a expectation to live up to as the tamiya truck models are a enjoyable build. Yes they hadn't accounted for the trailer using twin wheels rather than super singles but can see why they went with twins as the trailer didn't like to stand on its own with the legs down when I tried as set of super singles on it. The twins sort of suit it now they fit. The tamiya 40ft container has a bit of a reputation that its not the easiest build, the tamiya sides and top are moulded in 2 parts per side/top and getting the join nice can be fun apparently. Had that in my mind when I was building the 20footer but overall it went ok and its given me a insight as to the correct path to follow when building the 40foot version. I made sure there was a route for the trailer wiring to take so its as hidden as possible & used the same colour setup as my reefer trailer so all the trucks and trailer lights work as expected. Totally agree the number of people who spend a age adding every extra to their truck that they can physically mount and then tow a totally stock trailer without even bothering with lights. I do need to add a little weight to the container to improve its look on the trailer and the way it rides. The leaf springs are quite compliant but with the container weighing very little it makes very little difference to way trailer sits. Luckily there is a nice chamber under the artificial floor in the container that will get a few bits of lead strip added. Now the trailer is done I need to get on with the grand hauler & get that one finished.
