With Wheeler Dealers, it does disappoint me these days and has done for a while. Primarily, being in America is the big thing that spoils it and the abundance of American Cars and Americanisation of the programme. Now, I understand that there are plenty of people who would be interested in seeing a Mustang or a Corvette or a Camaro or such like, so one per series would be understandable. Wheeler Dealers 5 or 10 years ago was superb. Nothing came close in my opinion. You can't really blame Mike Brewer or those who make the Programme to chase the money and make it a more global thing though, it just inevitably waters down the programme and spoils it for many really long term fans such as myself and non doubt others on here. Mike is a good car bloke though. He acts up for the camera and all that, but again, even when Wheeler Dealers was a proper UK show it had to appeal to a wider audience than us "proper" car people, so he has to be that guy. I thought the latest one was a decent episode because it featured one of my all time favourite cars, but if it featured a yank car, or another off-road project, converting something to electric or the usual stuff they seemed to be doing more and more of, it wouldn't have been of any real interest. Next week though we've got the first episode of Drew Pritchard's new car show though and that will be very good I hope.
Drew's new program??? Please share details so I can set it to tape.

I'll give that a watch, even though he's a very arrogant person. Local fella, no time for people who watch his programme.
Wheeler Dealers - I prefer Ant to Ed, he's knowledgeable but like an excited school boy.

Lovely part of the world you live in - 15yrs + ago, myself & family used to stay in the Conwy Station as it was bought by an ex relative and converted to a holiday home. Loved going around the Great Orm etc.

You just have to hope that the front guy's that you are talking about don't think the same about yourself - then again maybe some of you just don't care - like I have already stated in a previous post on this thread the guys that front these shows are working to a script / or several takes with a director / producer deciding what gets said / cut / retained whilst said directors / producers also have the call on what makes / appeals to a large TV audience - Much like every other Radio production / Film / Theatre production / Television show - you are never going to please / appeal to every single person in the audience and if that is the case you can make a very personal choice - walk out or switch it off.

I have skyplussed it to watch and I will have a look at drew Pritchards show But tbh I like watching the old wheeler dealers With cars I can actually afford and just the straight forward Replacing stuff and tidying up jobs then selling them on Full blown rebuilds on Porsche’s mk2 jags and mg cars Have been done over and over again by most car shows And from what I’ve read that’s what pritchards show is going to be , rich boys with rich toys I just want to see reasonably priced cars done and turned around for a small profit , much like the early wheeler dealers, I just prefer run of the mill cars Not over inflated priced ones, that’s just my humble opinion of course!

The thing is the supply of cheaper cars is down from what it was.
Look at my W124. A decade ago, or even 5 years ago that would have been a £500 car tops. Unless you know somoene or get lucky try doing that now. It'll be around 3 times the cost. the fact that labour rates have shot up due to overheads and customer convenience etc. has helped either.
Of course there are cheaper cars about that aren't quite modern but no-one wants them as they're not seen to be retro ; the E39 thread proves that. The Merc even 10 years ago was considered relatively retro then. I still remember turning up to a number of meets in my '89 Volvo 740 and quite a few of us having a laugh and not taking things all that seriously.
In essence, the game has changed and so have the people.
I've seen snippets of the WDs but not the episode yet. From what I have seen Ant seems like a better Edd I hate to say as much of a fan of the China that I am! Yes Edd is a likeable character but a viewable as a separate entity? That is debateable, which is where I suspect the difference is between him and Ant. People don't enjoy hearing some speaking for a very long time in a monologue.
But let's not forget ; Edd is pretty well setup now with a few endorsements, his own Grease Junkie brand where he always wore that stuff in WD down to the gloves as well as a garage, or at least he used to have one.
Car SOS is pretty good I must admit and probably encapsulates alot of the vibe of the older WDs.

I enjoyed it, but mikes quick to knock the original seller down 5 grand but then doesn't even give the bloke a good deal.
The bloke paid 20k for a horrible wing, some wheels he will sell on and a turbo rebuild, he could have just had a garage sort that himself in the first place.

I enjoyed it, I think it was a little freshen up it needed.
I really enjoyed Ant also, he seemed much more at home doing more of the spannering which is something he didn’t seem to do much of with the love cars, certainly not much air time doing it.
His passion shone through and I loved the fact that it wasn’t all H&S crazy with gloves etc, really refreshing to see oily hands. I just couldn’t get round his voice though, it was as if he’s had elocution lessons or similar, it seemed different to his other stuff.
I don’t like how the program was set up so it was a ‘bought’ car, it was blatantly the guy getting them to do the work on his car, he was obviously a Euro lover having a corrado in his garage also. I understand it’s the aim of the program but I think it was aimed at capturing the Brit viewers due to the show now having Ant.

I wont be watching wheeler dealers, i appreciate brewers enthusiasm, but he does my nut in. Eds the man. What I'm more interested in here is Drews new show, which I knew nothing about. Ive always watched salvage hunter, personaly I'm really impressed with how he spots what he does, I like to think ive got an eye for it but its nothing compared to him. Ive made a note of the date for the first one and I'm looking forward to it. Does it mean no more salvage hunter?

I thought it was technically poor, CSM = chopped straw matt !!! all that messing around with the 3rd spoiler and no mention of how much extra drag it will create and the fact that it must completely obscure the view out of the rear window, the story around the guy not being able to find someone to fix an oil leak around the sump and having to sell it also sounded ridiculous.

Just watched it, absolutely Fantastic, I was very sceptical tbh when I heard about the new programme But Ant really is the breath of fresh air I thought the show didn’t need !!! More informative and as I have young George my son Working Saturdays in a mates garage and having bolted together his escort over the last two years, this is programme he can watch and learn the more intricate workings of the mechanicals , which I freely admit is not my forte Well done to the makers on bringing Ant in ...and Brewer?? Well he’s just the goffer and a bit of a wide boy..a bit like me I guess!!! Loved it

Who doesn't love a wideboy. Every decent outfit needs one.
Look at Oasis ; they were at their best with loudmouth Liam on board. Sure, he may have been quite the clown compared to his brother but as shown you need a Yin & a Yang.

Was pleasantly surprised by it when i watched it earlier. Yes it was a contrived as normal but Ant is a likely personality and really added some good technical know how to it. Can't help but feel that it might have peaked with the Cossie though. Designer was a nice touch.

I have managed to find all of the recent episodes on some of the cars they have done including the Cosworth, A Vr4 3000GT and Celica Supra these arent showing to the Uk yet but you can find them on some of the US sites.
I found that over the years they have become less about the technical side (which I am sure we are all interested in) and more about travelling and farting around.
Its becoming less relatable and far fetched, but as others have said it appeals to larger crowds now than it did 10 years ago so its going to change and become more scripted.
But its about cars and I am always going to watch it as it beats the trashy reality shows.
