questionable lathe £80
i reckon on starting next year by being less of a hoarding lunatic so i really want to see these daft excesses go to somewhere not subject to hoarders procrastination.
First is an unknown lathe that i purchased from S.O.C and proceeded to sporadically work on with a view that eventually it would be a self contained lathe on wheels that just would plug in and go , this has partially been achieved
I threw away the capstan tool fixture as it was rubbish in the sense that it wasnt centered at all on the chuck, i planed to bolt a crossway onto the traversing plate and have an angle settable tool fixture slideway on that, however that was more a finishing job
Also i re jigged the transmission so reduce it to a compact form 8 speed belt drive unit driven by a 1HP single phase motor mounted low down on the frame this drive mechanism is basically completed save for a few minor tasks.
its approx 90mm swing center and has a 6 inch 3 jaw chuck which is in great condition but not fitted in this picture
The tail stock looks basically home made as does a few various parts aside from my own efforts but looks settable and can be tidied up with ease
overall to make it a compact basic lathe it needs tool holding slideways adapted on, the motor wired to an E stop circuit, guards completed and setting up alignment wise
i'm hoping to attain minimum parts cost which really is the chuck and single phase motor.
Sealey 150 MIG Welder £50
This ive had since it was almost new in 2008 and its done some epic amounts of work over the last decade, the original wire feed motor control board failed so i fitted a 12v transformer and variable speed controller which worked great till the transformer failed recently.
i replaced that with a 12v 1.5A led driver which works with a relay to remove the capacitance delay effect but ive not tested it yet beyond seeing that it feeds out wire.
Fairly reasonable overall but the torch conduit is taped up where it split and also it probably needs a new liner as its the original from years ago.
i shall test it tomorrow.
[tested it today and it works well, there is a slight delay when pressing the trigger but that doesnt seem to be a practical issue]
