Not massively retro I know but I wondered if anyone had any experience...need to replace the front seats on my Corsa - seats are held down with 4 T40 Torx bolts. Did one seat fine, but one of the passenger side bolts is now just spinning. It feels like it's broken free of a captive nut, but there's no (obvious) access from the other side. Whether I tighten or loosen it's just spinning around... Am I missing something? The rear seats didn't have a captive nut welded in...? Online manual says this but I'll be darned if I can see a spacer of any kind...

looks like not all models have the spacer - try getting a lever between the seat subframe and floor, levering upwards while trying to undo the bolt - the nut might bite enough to get it undone

Check the front seat that *does* come out, to see if you can see a way to "lock" the nut on the problem seat?
Can you drill the head off the spinning bolt to get the seat out?

Did the bolts you got out so far have thread lock on them, I guess they will have? If so and the captive nut has come loose you can either cut through the bolt or drill its head off, either of which will leave you with no way to fit a new bolt. Or as a previous owner of a Carlton of mine did use a holesaw to make hole big enough to get a spanner through onto the now free nut. You can then work through the same hole when you put it back together, but with a new nut.

You know what, I'll just live with a mismatched interior and buy seat covers. Annoyingly it was bolt 7 of 8 that decided to play silly buggers. I've done the driver's seat and the whole rear of the car. Proper PITA.

Not sure how the seats are fitted but some have pressed steel towers with openings in them to allow a captive nut to be fitted. It might be possible to lift the carpet to gain access. On older Vauxhalls like Astra Mk4 the subframes unbolt from the seat.
