i have an aftermarket sunroof fitted and no real surprise it leaks... i'm thinking instead of filling the hole completely i could bond in a piece of acrylic sheet where the glass was using tiger seal or similar?
any thoughts, i'll leave the frame in but not bothered about having an opening roof, also it would be good to get rid of the inside catches etc to give more headroom etc.
would said sealent be enough or would i need to bolt it down as well?
thanks craig

Hmmm... I don't see why not, as long as you clean it all up properly before sealing it. Watch out for the acrylic yellowing and going brittle with age and exposure to UV light mind!
Edit: Also make sure you don't give the water anywhere to pool, as that probably wouldn't help.

Wurth bond and seal comes in white grey and black (maybe others) Think it's brilliant

I've used Sikaflex marine sealant and found it very good. Strong but flexible, it's designed to seal fixings into marine hulls so works very well on anything which needs to flex slightly. It is impervious to just about everything.

Quality Acrylic won't yellow like Polycarbonate, which can be bought with a UV/scratch resistant coating to protect it & is more flexible/floppy than Acrylic. Plastics will expand/contract lots with temperature, windscreens normally sit on a few mm of adhesive sealant to accommodate such movement (& body flex).

Würth window bond is phenomenal. I modified the ABS-plastic spare wheel well on a clear to fit a rather large 3" bore system and patched it up with aluminium sheet and the PU window bond. Seals and binds brilliantly

I fit solar panels, and motorised Satellite TV dishes to the roofs of motorhomes with Wurth, and don't need to use screws....

Fair point, was getting my plastics mixed up To be fair I've used sikaflex and tiger seal on a couple of things - as long as the joints are prepped and kept under pressure during curing it's one of the strongest adhesives I've come across.

Why not throw it away and welder up Look better and you can by or make headlining. Just a thought Having done this on a race car with sunroof delete its an utter hatefest. A total time suck to do right and then you have the added prep and paint. I've not done it again since.
