Ok, so this isn't exactly retro (although it is 15 years old now so maybe one day in the future it will be!)
Me and my friends have always wanted to do a project car in the style of MightyCarMods 'Budget Street Cred' VW Golf. However being only 18 we don't have the sort of budget they did for this sort of thing, so acquiring the right sort of car was a task. Originally, we were going to use a Daihatsu Terios but were unable to get it. When i heard news that my friends mum was scrapping her crusty old family wagon, I knew it was the perfect car for our plan. A deal was struck and for the sum of scrap value of the car I was the proud(ish) owner of this absolute beast :
For a family hauler, it's about as dirty as you'd expect. I don't think it had been cleaned in about 5 years prior to us acquiring it, so that was the first task. We filled a bin bag completely with all the rubbish left in there, in all the storage compartments, crevices, under the seats etc. The worst part was in the cupholders and crevices where the previous owner had just stuck chewing gum in them when she was done with it, and then left any old rubbish and change in the same compartments. It took wedging a screwdriver underneath them to get them out.
There's also a substantial dent in the rear passenger door. Going to have to try and sort that somehow.
Now, we have so many ideas for this car I can't explain them all in one post. But here's our plans for the interior: Make it as cosy as possible, like your nans living room, with a full entertainment system. Carpets, curtains, a hanging lamp, the lot. We've also taken out the back seat to make room for a TV cabinet/entertainment system we'll build with a TV, Head Unit and Speakers and Games Console. We bought this CRT TV for it the other day for cheap which is the perfect size to fit between the seats.
Here's a 3D model i put together of what the entertainment system should hopefully look like.
My friend also donated us this JVC head unit to go in there as well.
That's all we have so far, I'll mainly use this to keep a track of what we do to it, and if anyone is actually interested in what we do that would be a cool bonus!
