Mine comes from a doodle I draw back in high school. It was a tornado/whirlwind dropping all these stick figures that looked the same. It would have been roughly around the time Dolly the Sheep was a thing.
So it's really a cluster fluff combination of cyclone and portmanteau of science clone.

I have lived in the South for 30 years but originate from the North and still carry a strongish Yorkshire accent - I am known for being direct to the point and under no circumstances do I tolerate fools gladly - others confuse this by labelling me 'grumpy' - I am not bl**dy grumpy !!

My user name on here and a few other sites is ‘DISASTERBUS’. It came from a vehicle I owned about 10 years ago. I bought a freshly de-commissioned VW Bay window KATASTROPHENSCHUTZ WAGEN from the German Fire Service. It had been a ‘reserve’ vehicle from new (1980 – one of the very last Bay window buses) and was held in reserve in case of civil disaster / nuclear war etc for use as an emergency services mobile command post. It only had about 40,000km on and had been garaged by the fire service from new, so was pretty much immaculate, and only seems to have been used for twice yearly exercises by the German authorities. The first few pics are of the actual bus in service on exercise some-time in the 90’s. Next is how it came to me – radios disconnected but all the kit including fire axe and first aid kit unused and in the bus. Even the blue light and siren worked! I kept it for a while, put a Westfalia camper interior in it and used it a lot. I sold it to a bloke from Texas and he had it shipped over there. DISASTERBUS is a poor translation of KATASTROPHENSCHUTZ WAGEN, but is much easier to spell! I later bought another ex-German Firebus, a T25 converted in the same factory but later found out this was actually an ex- Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk bus so I got copies of the original logo’s made up by a signwriter buddy and filled them back on – think this bus is still around somewhere as a few people have told me they’ve seen it about.

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

First part is my first name, the "pieman" part comes from many years ago when I first joined a forum and needed a username, at the time I was a big fan of Weebl and Bob and had a pic of Weebl with his "Mmm pie" speech bubble as my avatar, so went with Pieman. It was also used by some friends who noted that I could seemingly eat as many pies as I liked and not put on any weight!
In fact I could do with an avatar for this forum...(edit) there we go!

Mine is kind of a nickname from student days. A bunch of us used to dress up in Tzarist Russian army uniforms (as imagined by our commanding officer) and claim pubs in the name of the Tzar. Was good fun in a big group. We served a notice of annexation on a small town once too.

Well, mine was a choice of two. When I was a kid my favourite car was the Hotwheels King Kuda, my second favourite was the Matchbox Piston Popper Mustang. I thought that as a newbie King Kuda sounded a bit up myself, plus, at the time I didn't own a Plymouth Barracuda, but I did own a Mustang, so pistonpopper it was. I struggled to think of a good name to be honest, and that was a good as i could come up with, and that took the best part of an hour lol.

Let's go back. Let's go all the way back to 1956. That particular year, Mr. and Mrs.B were debating on a name for their new son. "Let's call him William." Said Mrs.B. "Can't call him that." Responds Mr.B. "Oh, and why not?" "Well down Manchester Market (they were florists remember) if someone shouts 'Bill' half the people there turn round to see if it's for them. Let's go with George." "And what happens when someone shouts 'George'?" Asks she of the enquiring mind. "The other half turns round!" So it was very nearly BillB, but it's not!

when i was like 19 years old, i used to be a one brand car guy (silly me) and i tinkered, tuned and restored mostly fiat 500 and 126'ses. And because i have the posture and looks of a young God (sadly his name is buddah) and i'm over 2 meters tall, a friend of mine told me i look like a fat sausage you can buy at a certain departmentstore in Holland , when i drove around in one of my little fiat cars. so "dikke" means fat in Dutch, "Hema" is the name of the departmentstore and "worst" means sausage. i'm wearing this name with pride ever since !!!

There was a disused helipad just South of Johannesburg that had all the hangers converted into small industrial units. A friend of mine had an engineering shop in there, and had an Italian guy, Guido ,working for him. His English wasn't very good, but he was a good bloke, and he used to make us laugh. In the same industrial site, there was a restaurant and pub,and a model shop that sold Radio Control helicopters. They had a club going, and tutoring to learn was available. That's where I learnt to drink 😂They flew off the original field with all the concrete helipads on it. I decided this looked like a good hobby,so bought all the gear and went for lessons. On the day that I finally took off, flew around a bit and landed, without having to resort to a binliner to take the big bits home,Guido was standing behind the catch fence watching. He shouted out ," JOHNNY ! BRAVO !"
We all had a good laugh. He was very confused. Sat at the pub and had a couple of beers and explained that Johnny Bravo was an American Cartoon character,Tall, blonde ,muscular ,sporting a rather sharp hairstyle. I was most of the above apart from blonde and American,so the name stuck......

Mines simple It's my favourite song off the Monster Magnet CD 'tab......25', If you've not heard Monster Magnet before give 'em a listen, but stick to the early stuff, like the afore mentioned 'Tab', plus 'Spine of God', 'Superjudge' and their first self titled album 'Monster Magnet', all good cheesy stoner rock... the later stuff is still ok but those albums are the ones to go for...

Not very interesting really, part of the GT6's plate is 200K, which morphed into Zook, which was built in '71. Kept the name and the car.

Mine is because I'm famed locally for big smokey Burnouts. Way back when, I bought a real clean 2.8i Capri from a Hampshire Capri Club Member (Mike) - He invited me to attend their monthly meet in Basingstoke. I went over with my Nephew on that Sunday and found a real bunch of anoraks. They were like obsessed with non original screws and such like so I got bored and did a massive smokey burnout in the car park and left! Years later, I was at a local Ford meeting in my daily Chrysler 300c which was about a week old at the time. One of said anoraks was at the meet and said to me "At least you can't leave us here in a cloud of smoke with that" - errrrr WRONG! It's stuck ever since.

When I first started in online communities (on BBS) I used this name as I was reading Pat Cadigan's Synners ( www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009L6FXA6/ ) at the time and the main characters handle when in cyberspace was Hotwire. So I've had this name as a digital tag for 27 years at least, may actually be longer, as I can't remember what year I first started using BBS. The odd capitulation came a little later (but not much) as I was doing Amiga ascii art* and when you do a bit of ascii art you usually tag it with a three letter shortening of your name. It was also useful when eventually using IRC to rename to HTW^away when AFK. *One of the things about being a digital person for so long is your youthful exuberance, hubris and angst can be found years after with some simple searching. I fear for the cringe related injuries of the current generation based on my own experience, but you've got to own it as it was who you were at that time.
