following on and with a twist from the highly entertaining ( forum.retro-rides.org/thread/195354/strangest-thing-on-car?page=7 ) thread , what's the weirdest and most bizarre things you have SEEN in or on a car?
ill kick off with a tale. there was me , tootling up the a30 one day when I come up behind a rather weary looking pale blue mk1 fiesta with an unusual shape visible in the back. as I overtook I couldn't believe it but there was an effing great big hawk/eagle/buzzardy type bird perched on the top of the back seat....not in a cage but just sat on the seat top keeping watch on all that was going by. that was pretty a odd sight!!

Not sure if this counts, and apologies to the owner if he happens to be reading this...
At Worthing classic, custom and American car show this year were two highly customised MX5s. Customised in the sense that they had been themed. I forget what the one's theme was, but the other one was a Pirates Of The Caribbean themed MX5. All the stops had been pulled out.
Inside the engine bay, firmly moulded into place, was a dinner plate, with knife and fork and, I'm fairly sure, a pair of skeleton hands.
I just couldn't figure out at all why anyone would want to be driving a car with a dinner plate and cutlery in the engine bay.
In fact... I still can't. It makes me feel like I've slipped into a parallel universe when I think about it.

^It's probably so the owner can take the ginsters from being warmed on the manifold and put it straight onto a plate so he can eat it civilised with a knife and fork

Ahhhh, interesting. So that's exactly the car I'm talking about, and it was one of a pair by the same person/s. But I can't see the dinner plate in that engine bay... Which now makes me think it must have been the other one that had the dinner plate.
Edit: Although those pics are from 2006 and I saw it in 2017, so maybe he had a redesign and replaced the hand mirror, treasure chest or small brass cannon with a dinner plate during the 2008 global economic downturn.
I'm trying to remember what the other MX5s theme was. I keep thinking 'Darth Maul', but then I'm left wondering why Darth Maul would have a dinner plate and cutlery.

Saw a mug on the boot of a saloon car in Glasgow many years ago. Was there for ages, even when the car turned off and i lost sight of it!

You can see the other car in the background. If you click THIS LINK it'll take you to the first photo of this car in Phil Hooper's Flickr feed, keep clicking right as there are about 4 more pics of this car. The theme seems to be 'Evil Rocks' (death metal?) custom Mazda MX-5 (2009) by Phil Hooper, on Flickr

Evil rocks as a theme doesn't exactly mesh well with a dinner plate and cutlery either though."EVIL ROCKS. HELP YOURSELF TO SOME ROAST POTATOES" I'm beginning to think I may have dreamt it. I need to see more shots of the engine bay in the Pirates one. Maybe it was tucked further down than I remember it. There were skeleton hands grabbing the cutlery and something like a rat on the plate. I dunno. I'm now concerned for my mental health. = ) Edit... it was this bit here. Now I've seen the skeleton hand on my laptop screen (rather than my tiny phone screen) I am once more convinced that by summer 2017, that hand mirror had been replaced by a dinner set. That's exactly where it was, with that hand grabbing a fork...
