i have a 1993 metro which is currently being modified in to a van i am using all the parts off a scrap metro van, window blanks, van bulkhead and floor extension an original metro van is a 'car derived van' on the log book do i legally need to change body type to a car derived van or can i just leave it? would it need inspection to change body type?

I believe you would need a BIVA as you are altering/ modifying the shell.

thanks for reply
i haven't altered the original shell the rear bulkhead/ floor extension is bolted in
the side window blanks are bonded/spot welded in the original window holes
is adding window blanks classed as modifying original shell?
if so it is not a issue as i would simply remove and make them bolt in

no problem
my main question is
because i have removed side windows and added a rear bulkhead and removed rear seats creating a load space
should it be now classed as a car derived van or is it still a car
i can't seem to find any info on internet if i need to change body type on log book or not

it wont change the taxation class so I doubt you need to bother at all, it still looks like a metro.
