Righto so first things: apologies because this isn't a retro car. It may apply TO some retro cars though. To cut a long story short I had a Starline front lower wishbone fail on my '53 Leon after only 3 days (about 160 miles) of driving; it gave way at the bush end. Luckily it did give some warning so I was already trying to limp the car slowly to safety when it finally let go at about 15MPH. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying they're all going to fail, just be aware there may be more faulty ones out there. If this had happened on the motorway, this would have been very nasty. Obligatory pictures:

Yikes, that's not good. I just did the same on the wife's Bora 2 weeks ago. I used Delphi arms and luckily no issues. That looks to be a massive manufacturing flaw. It will be interesting to know their reaction to that.

You need to take this one up on very, very strong terms. This was a potential fatality.

Yep. I find that, if I get a Chinese guy in China to weld something using identical kit and materials there's a MUCH higher chance than if I get a Brit to weld it in Germany using materials from Spain. If only we'd got Big Gazz from Croyden to weld it in Basildon using a welder from Taiwan using steel from Sheffield...

Nah. No offence at all, just a poke at how we moan about Chinese quality when something breaks without knowing if it was even made there, without factoring in the higher percentage of stuff made there nor taking into account that manufacturing is global, and of course it is about the only "racist" comment that is deemed acceptable these days.

Mmm not too sure about that, they do make some pretty sh1t ( I mean sub-standard) gear. I sell motorcycle parts & there is plenty of dross comes from them. Not sure it’s racist, just true

Obviously we expect car parts to be fit for purpose but was there any particular reason you chose this brand over OEM or a more well known brand?

Not sure it’s racist, just true Please don't mistake my tone. Not calling you out, nor being PC. Just pointing out that products care manufactured all over the world, many goods in China. If it is CE marked and marketed in this country you have an expectation of standards. If bought as such there us recourse, regardless of the nationality of the person making it and the Country if origin. It was meant as a "think about what you are saying" more than anything else.
