erm . . . (preparing to get lynched) It's theirs...they can do whatever the curse word they like with it, and if watching it rot into the ground is their bag then so be it. You all seem to have the that you haven't got it . . . well save up and buy one, this one isn't for sale. I'm a bit more concerened about those that are slating the condition of the house... some people are poor ok? some people are also old, too old to be doing these jobs ok? And you have no idea what the circumstances are, maybe, like it's been mentioned, it is a widow/widower who lives there and it's the last thing they have of their spouse' ... Maybe it's just some old guy/gal who lives alone, who's family doesn't visit cos they don't give a curse word, or maybe they're all dead and this one person cannot do any of this curse word so is just sitting there alone waiting to die. Maybe they are already dead and no one has been to find out if anyone is ok because they didn't have anyone to care in the first place... The point is, you don't know... You're all coming over as a bunch of self righteous elitist snobs to be honest... As a matter of fact THE WHOLE WORLD IS...it can go curse word itself... i'm sick of this curse word. thats all very well, but being a realist id probably sell the car to fix the windows, sorry i mean curse word windows. and if people have been knocking at his door, thats half the job done. With the tax due in 1990 thats a long time to have it sit there festering, so there may well be a major reason its still there that no one knows about.

^^ Aren't we a happy little bunny...... You,undoubtedly, would get a much better reception is every second word wasn't curse word.... What?? it took me ages to go through it all and substitute every expletive with the phrase 'curse word', and finding that little picture of a fox all you guys use was a right pain, it would've been way easier if there had been some sort of automated device that did it all for you ...jeez I shoulda just said curse word it and left the curse word swears in!!! on a lighter note....it's been a bad day, full of people looking down on other people...i see it everyday and this thread just struck a nerve ok?

. . . It's theirs...they can do whatever they like with it This is the correct answer, same as I can do with my toys - any the other contributors can do with theirs. There was a similar thread on here last year, same views - same unhappy vibe Think positive, live and let live, and look at a nice restoration

I agree with your post, if they want to keep it then let them. If they are poor as curse word then let them be poor as curse word. If they want to let things fester in their bin, let them fester curse word things in their bin ^^ Aren't we a happy little bunny...... The thing I find odd is often the 'saviors' who say it needs to be saved often can't, or don't want to save it themselves. Earlier in the year I needed to clear my cars from where I was storing them, amongst which were these two Mustangs Now, I had a lot of friends telling me that they needed to be saved, and I should get working on them and do them up so they could be driven again. They all said it was a crime that I had them just sitting there, slowly rusting away. But in all honesty I had neither the time or the talent to fix them up, but I was getting fed up with being told by my friends that it was a crime that I was letting them sit there rusting away like that, and if they were their cars then they would do them up. In the end I thought, fair enough, I'll give them to one of my friends to restore, and they can have them for free! I offered them around and guess what... None of these 'saviors' wanted them. None of them had the time, or the space, or they were too far gone, or whatever the excuse was! Funnily enough however, when someone posts a pic like the one of the Capri on this post on farcebook, then they are still some of the first people who comment on how it's a crime, and how it should be saved! Oddly, the guys that I know who restore cars for a living never make comment! I think that unless it's for sale, people need to mind their own business, and if someone has a rusting hulk of a car slowly dissolving into their drive, then let them have it, it's their car so what should they have to justify why they're not fixing it up?

pistonpopper, I often wonder how many of the people who demand a car must be saved have ever restored a car or even financed a car restoration?
I think its very interesting that these people with great ideas and dreams turned down the opportunity to partake in what they had previously been preaching!

When a car is like this a lot of the time it's the last thing that exists that reminds them of a deceased loved one. They probably won't tell you that but remember next time you see a car like this.

"If it doesn't sell I'll have to scrap because I'm moving house, does anyone want it?" It had sat about for sale at a very reasonable price for ages, I never had the means to sort it when it cost money and when it was about to meet its maker I was fortunate enough to have my ducks in a row to scoop it up and have been steadily working through the jobs on it. It's one thing to say it's a shame to see something rotting away, it's another to get offensive about it. Different people have their reasons, sometimes it's sentimentality, sometimes it's financial, sometimes it's just that they're fed up of chancers and time wasters so they'd rather see it rot to spite the people that messed them about. All you can do, really, is appreciate the photographs of a car gently decaying or, if you're genuinely interested in saving it, attempt to get in touch with the owner to do so. Never expect to get anything for free and if they want a lot more money than it's worth to you then politely decline and move on. It's not that difficult to be decent. Not really.

I agree with Lord13's post. That Capri looks a lot like my EN Civic rust wise, especially the front of the bonnet. The Civic was my dad's parents' last car. I drove it a few times before I even had a licence. Dad gave it to me to force his mum to give up driving as she was becoming a danger to herself and others. I and both my wives dailied that thing for many years until it got too rusty to get a wof (mot). My eldest daughter was conceived in the back seat. It hasn't been legal in over a decade and never will be again but I'll keep it until it dissolves into the ground because of the memories. P.S. I drove my Civic today. Rust curse word it may be but it always starts.

You have all made some very fair points here from both sides of the fence - now tell me that with open arms you would welcome someone like this along with all their curse word has detailed in the picture has your immediate next door neighbour.

If its a scruffy car on the drive, yeah! Id rather an otherwise nice polite friendly neighbour with a scruffy car and a bit of litter (usually properties fall into a state of disrepair due to ill health or the inability to look after themselves due to age) If needs be i would pop in and help, from experience a lot of people living in these conditions don't choose to do so. Id rather this next door to me than a Domestic Violence Relationship or those who partake in Child Abuse/Neglect. You have all made some very fair points here from both sides of the fence - now tell me that with open arms you would welcome someone like this along with all their curse word has detailed in the picture has your immediate next door neighbour.

I've had two wives but not both at the same time. My culture is not one that permits that sort of thing.

Assuming it is too far gone to save:
It being scrapped Vs sat there, where maybe one day a kid walks past and asks his/her parents what it is and a life long passion is sparked :-) For me it was the cars rotting in front gardens that used to fascinate me as a kid!
