Hi, can anyone help with this please? I have heard people on here having problems with dodgy buyers and sellers on eBay. I bought something on eBay and paid with PayPal. Nearly 2 weeks later and the seller hasn't posted it. They are apologetic and saying they are busy with work. I asked to cancel it and get my money back and they agreed then paid me nearly double back in PayPal instead of just refunding. Is this dodgy? Can they claim it back off me via PayPal? I plan to pay them back the difference through PayPal but it seems really odd.

I'm not sure how or why it could be iffy, but if it don't seem right, don't do it. Don't accept the payment, refund it and follow the eBay protocol for a refund. No issues that way.

Dodgy, There's a time limit for a refund, they will wait till the end of that limit to get their payment to you refunded which will be past the limit for you to get a refund on your initial purchase.
Just follow the ebay protocol to get your money back.

Step 1: Refund the money they have sent to you. Step 2: Open a Dispute Claim for non-receipt of goods and allow eBay to sort it out.

Every time I've spoken to paypal they've been extremely helpful, I'd ring them direct, explain the situation and see what they say

Don't give them any money back. The amount they've given could be via a fraudulent bank account, so while it shows up on paypal at the moment, paypal will eventually realise its fake and remove the money from your account. Of course you've paid the seller the "difference" so you end up out of pocket!
It a similar process to the old scam of someone buying a car off you, giving a money order and paying the full amount plus extra so you can pay the recovery guy for them, then the money order is found to be fake, and you lose money and possibly the car.

^^^^^what E said^^^^ It's a scam Demand the refund via PP as a refund on those goods then let them cancel the other payment.
also report this to PP as they may have scammed others.

Reported to PayPal. They didn't seem interested in it sounding dodgy. Advised that I claim mine back and refund theirs so hopefully all sorted.
