SOLD
Hi, thanks for looking. My well-patinated Citroen BX estate is up for sale, mainly because I have more projects than time. It has had a lot of general service and maintenance work to bring to back to decent roadworthy condition.
The recent works the car has had are as follows:
Timing belt, water pump, antifreeze and crank seal;
Engine service, oil plus filters (oil/air/fuel);
New disks and pads all round;
Genuine leg return pipe N/S/F;
Both rear suspension arms replaced with good used items;
S/h gaitor O/S/R suspension unit;
Front number plate (original still with the car);
S/h fog lamp switch;
2 part worn tyres;
S/h ZX wheel trims.
I've changed the rear arms in the last few days and the originals are with the car if the new owner wants them. One looks savable the other not so.
Other positive points - the suspension is soft and rides well. All the metal high pressure pipes look to be in excellent rust free condition. There are no leaks on the return side that I am aware of. The engine is on the button and starts instantly. Body-wise the car is original and largely rust free with no previous welding and nothing that requires immediate attention. The two places I would mention though are an area around the N/S/R tailgate hinge and the usual place on the front inner-wing seams - no immediate issues but may need fettling in the future.
Okay the faults - I am not going to list every last issue as I think it is evident from the pictures that the car is one for further improvement. The main thing that I would do soon is to fit a new clutch - the car drives fine but the clutch is getting weak/high. Other issues are the paintwork(!), one door doesn't work on the central locking and has the same issue with the window. There's some wind noise from worn window guides/seals. There will be various bits of trim etc that will need work (although the seats are good). The original radio crackles and is on one speaker only - but I think it adds to the character!
History - the original hand books are with the car including a stamped service book (mainly from the first half of the car's life). There are also all the old MOT's and some tax disks. Details of all previous owners are present - most mileage was done as a company car for E Gandolfi Ltd of Wellingborough, Northants - a shoe retailer I believe. Current mileage a very low 195,000.
