Got two containers identical - no label - I know one of them is screenwash & one of them is anti freeze. Any easy way of finding out which is which?

Smell it. Coolant is sickly sweet, screenwash is more alcohol. Failing that touch them, coolant is thick.

add a few drops to water in a jar , pop lid on and shake...I would assume the screenwash will foam and the antifreeze not?? (possibly?)

If you just want coolant then just chuck whichever one you fancy in... It'll be fine  But the coolant will probably be a stronger smell. |

From past experience, antifreeze is stupidly sweet tasting whereas screenwash is more soap like

Boiling point of screen wash should be lower as it usually contains methanol or ethanol.

And you know alcohol has a lower freezing point than coolant and have a freezer capable of -140°c

Bung a dilute sample of each in the freezer. A couple of winters ago I saw a petrol station forecourt full of ready mix "-40*C" screenwash. Every tub was frozen solid. It must get really cold ooop norf. |
