Was just checking the govt. MOT history website to see which wheel received an advisory for wheel bearings on my last MOT so I can fix it. I've noticed the MOT test centre address now appears in full view alongside all the the usual advisory/fail reasons, mileage and previous MOT status'.
Not sure how I feel about this. While it might be useful for ex-owners to trace where their car have ended up, it also lets undesirables perhaps mine a garage for potentially sensitive information, e.g. names/addresses/phone numbers of expensive/rare car owners. I wonder how clued in Mechanic Joe Bloggs will be at how sensitive some of this information might be? I.e. getting unsolicited calls asking about the nice Mk1 Escort they MOTd in September, can they have the address of the owner because they used to own that car and want to see it for old time's sake.
Thoughts? Hopefully garages won't be so oblivious?
EDIT: Apologies if this is old news or has already been posted!
