Had an interview today at Halfords, went really well, enjoyed it and hopefully I get the call. Anyway, guy I was paired with asked what I drove, pointed out the grey Vectra parked outside, he said the old manager had one exactly the same, polished up and well looked after, always clean, he thought it was the same car but the reg of that one started R666 ***. Which is the private plate taken off it before my mate bought it, then me. Really weird that I thought, at least I know it was loved for a few years though
Anyone else come across similar?

Sort of, but the other way around! My old cortina is currently sitting in the British motor museum (I did already know this and have seen it there before). We were up there a couple of months back and I was talking to one of the guys that works there. Mentioned that I owned the cortina pointing at it. He said 'oh yours was a mk5 like that one?" ..."No, I owned THAT one, it was the car that took me to my wedding." He was very surprised and let me go sit in it and take a couple of pics with the family :-D

A few years ago I owned a Renault Megane (exciting I know). Anyway I was up at the tip one day chucking some stuff out when a guy came over and said he was throwing away some parts for a Megane if I was interested in them. After he looked over my car he realised it was his old car and the parts were spares from when he had to put a replacement engine in ( starter, steering pump, alternator etc). Right place at the right time and I got a box of stuff for free. Never did use any of it mind!

I had been working at a car recovery company for a few years when the subject of 'what was your first recovery' came up, my then manager went onto say about the day over 20 years ago he had to flat tow a red Mk Cav from the roadworks area on the M3 when it was being built he said he was shitting himself as it was he first tow job and hadn't really had any training. That car was mine with me driving and it had also been my first breakdown and first time I'd been towed.

I drove 2 miles down the road to the local ford meet and found a Mondeo st tdci in the same colour as mine, albeit a hatch rather than an estate, with the reg number identical aside from one digit which was the next in sequence (the other one ended ST and mine ends TT). They were both registered in Chelmsford which is a couple of hundred miles away.
I told about 6 family members and no-one seemed impressed.

A couple of Hunter-related coincidences (coincidenci ?) I bought it in Wales (KFW) and took it 350 miles to my place "Up North" (Tyneside'ish), then took took it for an MOT at a local garage I use ( on a back lane in the local village, in the middle of nowhere) The garage were convinced they had sold it a few years earlier, they remembered as the guy they sold it to had no sat-nav so had stuck directions on post-it-notes all along the dashboard before driving away in it I was sure it couldn't have been the same car as mine had come from Wales. A few years afterwards, I found out KFW made the 350 mile trip (by bus?) to buy it from my North-East back-street garage and driven it back to his place in Wales Another time, I was heading North from a trip "Down South" and stopped at a small town about 50 miles before I got home. A chap came over for a chat, he was on his way home from the coast (heading West) and had decided to stop at the same town. There was no reason for us to be in that town, it was just a random stop-off for both of us. It turns out he owned my Hunter about 20 years ago and sold it when he moved to the country and needed 4WD when it snowed

Once I was on Facebook and was scrolling through, as you do, then suddenly I was really confused as a car that was a spitting image of my 106 was there. White, lowered, on 3 stud Compo MO5s and the reg was T523 LCJ. (Weren't too sure on the numbers, but it was basically a few digits off mine which is T527 LCJ). His car must have rolled off the same day or something.
Either ways, it confused a few friends who happened to see it and thought I had sold my car.
