So, it looks my 2.5 Diesel V70 Donkey is developing a fault with his auto gearbox. 2 options, move it on whilst still driving or convert to a manual set up. Second option is my favorite, anybody have box, pedal box, shifter linkage, flywheel and clutch and clutch cable so I can ditch the auto and return to my beloved 3 pedal set up? If there is a cheap enough complete car out there I would take that. What you got? P.

Where are you located? And will a T5 manual box ect fit?

That engine is related (if not identical) to the unit in the C4 Audi A6 and T4 Transporter, if that helps. I'd imagine the T5 box is the same but with the wrong ratios

Ah, if it is the audi engined version my box wont fit, the T5 I've got here is the volvo 850 T5. I've robbed the engine and loom from it to put in the 960.

What's the box doing?
Just some background: I know when I was trawling through the history I saw that it had a replacement (2nd hand) gearbox prior to be owning it, but I don't know the reasons for the change.
I had the selector changed while I had it, as it was slipping out of gear/then would jerk back into it as you were driving. Apparently the contacts often get dirty causing similar behavior.

Hi sarkie83, Yup, It looks as if the issue was dirty contacts on the selector. Took it apart and had a good clean, problem solved. Managed to find the answer on the Volvo forum but thanks for commenting. Whilst crawling around underneath I found the name of the guys that changed the box etc on a metal tag welded to the bellhousing so it has had a box in its past. Now done 11K miles in Donkey, have sort of become attached to him, so heres hoping that all issues are as easily resolved. P.

What are the issues that you are having?
If these are like the D5s in the S60s they can suffer from flaring in between the gears. A change to a new revised Volvo gearbox oil and a gearbox plate change (I think it's the end plate) is meant to resolve this. But it's been ages since I have looked into this.
