Simply amazing stuff, thankyou. I'm stumped here - what is the estate in the middle?

Great pictures, I watched a lot of it on the live feed. Even had the wife looking for vintage outfits on eBay. Do non Goodwood members get any paddock access? You did dress up didn't you? and that applies to dbizzle as well (picture evidence needed).

Thanks for the pics. Left it too late for tickets this year, although live feeds were helpful in dulling the pain, it's not the same as being there. Highlight for me is always the sound of a Mk2 Zephyr at full chat in the St Mary's Trophy. Puts a shiver down my spine the same as a Merlin engine does.

Thanks Seth, At first I picked out this: But then there was this! With an extra mention for this Was chatting to my dad last night, he went along and said it was pretty hard to get a good viewing spot this year and the non-track part of the event has sprawled and sprawled compared to when we last went along together. I watched the TT race live on youtube and it was amazing.

Wonderful one off Abarth prototype. That looks a bit like a Fiat Samantha (Carrozzeria Vignale) from the front doesn't it

You did dress up didn't you? and that applies to dbizzle as well (picture evidence needed). About half the paddock is open for anyone to walk through but the 'expensive' stuff in the wooden shed section is open to holders of certain badges only. You can walk around the sides and see most of it though, just not up close. Of course we wore appropriate clothing! (No photographic evidence though) Almost everyone does because it really doesn't need to take much effort. Was chatting to my dad last night, he went along and said it was pretty hard to get a good viewing spot this year and the non-track part of the event has sprawled and sprawled compared to when we last went along together. I watched the TT race live on youtube and it was amazing. Yes, I think the first time I went the car park was just that, with I think the old funfair bits and maybe an auction tent. Now the 'Over the Road' is row upon row of clothing/car stalls, a 'drive in movie' screen (free to sit in a deck chair) etc. Heading to the further reaches of the track is definitly the way to get better viewing. Our plan for the next time we go is to carry our lunch with us in the morning while looking round the paddock side of things then head up to Lavant/St Marys corner and spend the rest of the day watching the racing from there. Wonderful one off Abarth prototype. That looks a bit like a Fiat Samantha (Carrozzeria Vignale) from the front doesn't it I thought the same.

I always used to go in my dad's old pinstripe three-piece from the '70s (which looked appropriately '60s-ish), until a couple of years ago I split the crotch right open as I crouched down to take a photo. That's a tricky one to cover up. This year I just wore an ordinary suit. Bit lazy. Really should get some tweed.

we went on the Saturday for my dad's 80th which was also probably the best weather, racing was great particularly the st mary's cup, seeing / hearing the Galaxie of full chat down the straights passing all sorts only to be overtaken by virtually all of them again as it wobbled around the corners was impressive, pity there were no Lotus Cortinas on Minis which dominated in the period though.
As said above the motor show was mostly TVR including the new Griffith, there were also a Ford stand (with brand new fiesta!) and the land rover re-born products which are almost certainly far better that they ever were originally.
The paddocks which you could see were great with good access but as said above the main paddock with all the really nice stuff was out of bounds without some sort of pass (you could walk along the back).
On the negative side the re-created high street is virtually non existent now with mostly shop fronts which are cafe's inside, it was very very crowded and a large part of the show area is taken up with trade stands selling stuff (a lot of clothing) way out of my price range. Also the nature of the track means you end up watching most of the race on the big screens anyway.
My overall thoughts, a good experience but I don't think it was great value for money, there are other events such as the Kop hill climb this weekend I would rather go to.

Great Photos Seth. I was there all three days as a volunteer steward on the start line grand stand. Work half the day each day then I could roam around the rest of the day with an access almost all area pass! Ive had worst jobs had a cracking weekend despite the rain! St Marys trophy buy far the best race.

That looks a bit like a Fiat Samantha (Carrozzeria Vignale) from the front ... ...and a lot like a standard 850 spider, doesn´t it? Even with the original faired in headlights, the Giugiaro (Bertone) spider wasn't as pretty as the later Samantha IMO

We went down on the thursday and came home monday, Absolutly loved it, dispite the weather, and the tent attemting to flatten itself. problem its addictive it the 4th year weve been and you'll never see it all, brilliant racing. the TT trophy is a glorious way to go deaf.

I was there on Sunday, my 17th year! The weather did dampen spirits but t was still a good day out. Did you find the lake they'd made?? Spectating around st Mary's is great for photography. Not so crowded and well, exciting.
I'll stick my pictures up soon.
