Having owned very good handling cars and cars with way more power than the chassis can cope with I am a little on the fence. That is until I remember the smile that only 500HP+ can bring to your face when the traffic lights go green.... I will take #2 please, but only if it is really, really really silly power in a wheel barrow. P.

I'm finally going to fit the 2007cc motor that I've owned for years! I borrowed it at Bug Jam 2004 when I'd blown up my 2276 and a mate had broken his gearbox, and took it through to the finals of VW Pro, running pretty consistent 12.50's. When the chance to buy it came up a year later I jumped at it! I'm estimating 160bhp as my 2276 had just shy of 190 and ran a best of 12.09 @ 109.7mph. Reputedly originally built by Gene Berg himself in the early '90's, then rebuilt by John Maher. It's 10ish:1 compression, FK-87 cam, 48IDF Webers (I sold my IDAs last year) and aftermarket heads with 44 and 37.5mm valves. I've given it a new set of Scat dual springs, ground in the valves and fitted tinware and a generator. Later plans include either my full MSD ignition or a magneto!

That should go well Dave! There's a guy in Sweden or Norway with a 1641 turbo in a Ghia that runs nines... We're really derailing this thread, aren't we!

I was thinking about this again today. My ideal 2 car scenario would be a barge with too much power for a daily, and a lighter car with good handling for the weekend. Ironically both my cars fall short in both areas...

I voted 1 as my old little 205 Rallye with 75bhp could be driven flat out leaving much more powerful cars struggling to keep up on the right road.
Same roads in my old mk5 golf gti was frustrating as you couldn't really fully open it up without facing a rather long ban lol
But rubbish chassis and no power can actually be a lot of fun if your on b roads.
