I didn't spend a lot of time around the classic car club displays, only as I was walking from our stand across to the paddock. But here's a few photos from the track over the weekend, some of which are more successful than others. webIMGP9701 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP9523 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP9854 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP9804 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP9791 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP0117 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP0115 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr webIMGP0012 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr

Yep all successful depending upon your viewpoint. And I hope you already know our viewpoint enjoys seeing cars/events we cannot get to see in person.

Cheers all. I do have a load more, but the trouble is when you look at them alongside each other they all look virtually identical. slammedorion there's a place for everything though - your iPhone has a distinct weight advantage over one of the lenses I was using above. Some of the photos I see in various forums taken on modern phones are incredible. I posted these on a photography forum, someone else had posted some similar ones from the same event and they were far, far clearer than mine. Oh well, something to try out next time I'm there.

Would love to see the other ones too ... I've not got a suitable long lense for track photography, it is on the shopping list, but oh so expensive!

Yes, tell me about it. Mine was secondhand but still dear, and doesn't get used a lot, and only to about 2/3 of its maximum length. While I know it's lost value, it hasn't really lost me any money until I sell it, so it might as well stay.
I'll post some more later on then, if no-one minds.

That was my pick (mustang and BMW) of the images as well, great photos. With regards to long lenses, I use a Sigma 70-200 that's getting on for 10 years old (~£850), yes I'd love a Canon 'white' lens but the Sigma works for me. 200mm (particularly on a non full-frame sensor body). On the other hand I've won and come second in camera club competitions with phone pictures.
