Hi All, My wife and I spent the last couple of weeks in the US, mainly to attend a friends wedding in California, but also with a little tour around some areas in the South East first (Smoky mountains, Blue ridge parkway, Nashville, Memphis etc.). I took loads of photos as usual, mainly musical stuff but took a few RR suitable ones so will post them up here. The range and variety of vehicles you see over there is great Knoxville, Tennessee. Cop cars are cool! IMG_5717 IMG_5718 Trucks are cool too. IMG_5713Then around Tennessee. This is our rented Jeep taking on the 'Tail of the Dragon' route. It's quite a big attraction to bikers and fast car drivers mainly (bit like the Nurburgring) but we just tootled around in the Jeep in the rain dodging wild turkeys, other wildlife and the odd fast car. More info on the road is here, it's great fun if you're ever in the area: Tail of the dragonIMG_5689IMG_5679Tree of shame (bike parts!) IMG_5682Dragons! IMG_5685 IMG_5687 IMG_5688 This is our Jeep parked at the hotel in Nashville next to a real truck, Super Duty! IMG_5741 Nashville fire engine. IMG_5756

The next couple we spotted in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. A fantastic place to visit if you're into music history (sadly, one legend, Glen Campbell died the week we were there). Also, visit RCA Studio B if you go, just amazing. Anyway, car stuff... I give you, the 'silver dollar' IMG_5776 IMG_5775 IMG_5774 IMG_5772 IMG_5771 Oh, one of Elvis' cars too - nice TV install. More Elvis stuff later from Graceland visit (there's a huge garage full of his cars, other vehicles, bikes, planes...!) IMG_5777 IMG_5778 IMG_5779 The Bandit! IMG_5815 Obligatory Coke truck. IMG_5811 Custom Jeeps for sale in a shopping mall (you see loads of these jacked up Jeeps rolling around like Tonka toys over there). IMG_5843 The music highway from Nashville to Memphis, good safety advice posted above the road... IMG_5888IMG_5890 And also in our Jeep.... starting to think people roll these things regularly over there...? IMG_5893 A garage in downtown Memphis near Sun Studio. IMG_5913 And some old Pork just around the corner near the High Cotton micro-brewery (our other main interest...) IMG_5915

Popped to Elvis' house, as you do. Turns out he liked his cars (and other vehicles too). I only took a handful of photos but there were tons of things on show. Here's a selection. What was really good was how they had old footage of Elvis and his family using the vehicles shown by some of them, so you could really picture them in use 40 years ago just over the road at his house, rather than like touring around a normal museum with no real context to the exhibits. Very evocative. You could also tour round all his clothes, costumes, artefacts etc. as well as the house itself so we tried to see as much as possible and really enjoyed it. IMG_6005I loved this! Also, I bet DarrenW knows where there is one of these much closer to home... IMG_6008 IMG_6009IMG_6011IMG_6014IMG_6015Why have one huge Merc if you can have two...? IMG_6012IMG_6017 Pink Caddy! IMG_6020 IMG_6023 This was wonderful, and large. IMG_6024 IMG_6026 IMG_6027 IMG_6028 IMG_6029 In the 'other vehicles' area there was all sorts of stuff, lots of bikes I didn't take pics of, but also buggies, tracked vehicles, golf carts, trikes... IMG_6031 IMG_6032 IMG_6033 IMG_6034 IMG_6035 IMG_6036A few bikes... IMG_6037 IMG_6039 A pink Jeep! IMG_6038 IMG_6044 This was outside selling ice cream too. IMG_6054 More soon, probably from the California part of the trip

Various spots out and about around Santa Barbara... IMG_6158 fullsizeoutput_25da This was for sale near the Mission* IMG_6164 * For reference, this is the Mission... IMG_6167 Subaru ute IMG_6174 This was lovely: IMG_6177 IMG_6178 I liked this 2 door station wagon, but it looked like someone was living in it (!) so I didn't take any more pics: IMG_6179 A local brewery had this bus outside: IMG_6180 Not sure what this is (anyone know?) other than really cool looking! IMG_6192 Not sure if this classes as 'cal look'? Is that still a thing? IMG_6193 A couple of old ladies parked next to us in this Toyota, loved their registration plate! IMG_6194

Got back to the hotel and various other members of the wedding party had started turning up. Someone obviously wanted to 'top trump' my Toyota so got this 6.2L yellow thing! It did sound quite good but I'm sure I got better 'gas mileage' IMG_6198 The wedding car arrived, restored 1941 Caddy! A touch of class amongst a sea of rented Mustangs! IMG_6212 IMG_6213 Later with ribbons... IMG_6216 We all got transported to the wedding and reception in this old converted school bus. It had a surprising turn of acceleration on the steep California mountain roads and was good fun to ride in, if not the most comfortable. IMG_6295 Last one I think, an E30 spotted on the highway back down to LA. IMG_6327 Hope you enjoyed them

Not recent - a year ago next week but here's a few from my trip to San Francisco and California. Buick Grand National seen in SF. So much want. Expensive looking Rolls Royce which dropped off 2 expensive looking ladies who went shopping. Beautiful 57 Chevy Pick Up in Walnut Creek which sounded like God gargling rocks. It's not specifically a "car" but instead a Cable Car, which is VERY Retro. I know, I'm a fine looking specimen too Our ridiculous hire Car (or "Rental"). Was a pleasant place to be, especially with the Air-Conditioned seats in Yosemite... And the best for last - a fabulous 1929 Ford in Dublin which looked like it was used regularly. It was in Hooters car park of all places.
