Has anyone retrospectively fitted cruise control ot one of these? The plastic panel for the mounting on ther steering column is there. In an ideal world, it would just mean taking the cowling off and plugging it in to an existing block on the wiring loom but that would be just far too easy, wouldn't it?

What engine is in it?
I've seen a thread on another site for a C250 TD.

From what I understand it's plug-in and play on petrol models, can comment on diesels but imagine it's the same.

Not clued up on Mercs at all, but Vauxhalls I've had the loom and brackets have all been there, but the ECU needs to have the cruise function enabled with a computer? Again don't know if that's a Merc thing.

It's a petrol engine.
Is it recommended to disconnect the battery if I need to remove the steering wheel to get proper access, so that the air bag doesn't go off? I took the steering wheel off on my old C220, without thinking about the air bag but I got away with it.
Somewhere on another forum, there was something about getting the ECU re-set but i'm not sure of they were referring to a diesel or a petrol.

I think the car will need to go on 'STAR'.

Thank you for that. I presume that's an ECU setting or am I being thick?

Yes, just like the Smart cars with the SAMS system, STAR will just activate the module. I think you need the activation key from MB as well, but could be wrong.

Or search out an ECU from a breakers that came from a car that already had cruise control. First I will tryand locate the plug in and in the event the Cruise Control cannot be selected using a OBD2 device, perhaps that is the next option.
