Bit of an odd one, I used Gas UK for my previous pure argon, Order, delivery, deposit on cylinder, return cylinder, returned deposit all ok but this time they do not seem to want to collect the empty cylinder! which means they still have my deposit.
3 times I have booked a collection, might even be 4 or at least 4 calls to them but they don't turn up and when called have no record of the booking. Now I am thinking if it is this hard to arrange the empty cylinder collection how hard is going to be to get the deposit back. They are acting like a company either trying to balance the books, going bust or completely incompetent.
Anyone else use them or having problems with them recently?
I certainly wont use them again so who can you recommend for delivered gas supplies?
Thanks
Jim

I use a small local company that advertises cellar gas but also dose welding gasses, deposit on bottle plus refill charge. Always been happy with them they even stayed open a bit later for me on a sat afternoon so i could swap a bottle. Dan

I have a bottle with ryval, they swap it over OK but I don't use much gas these days. When I first signed up I found that about a week later I got plagued with Insurance calls from different 0121 numbers on my mobile for months after... flipping annoying as hell and this was the only firm I had given my details to in that time. Give a bogey number if you sign up. www.ryvalgas.co.uk

Delivery is a right pain in the ass. Find the local SGS dealer and go there instead.

I tried SGS but it is the same system so means paying for another cylinder, they wont accept a different brand cylinder back for deposit return. I am guessing you need to be a supplier or have a contract with the big gas companies but anyone know if/where I can get my cylinder refilled? got 2 empty cylinders now, I am in Surrey, cheers

did you try to arrange collection over the phone or on their website? looks like it needs to be paid for so I guess if you haven't paid they may not process the collection?

Yes you could be right, I made the bookings over the phone but there was no mention of payment for collection, this might be new. Think I will have another go at arranging collection for both cylinders and deposits, cut my losses on the collection fee and start again with SGS, at least I can walk in there and talk to them.
Edit - empty bottle collection is paid for, £20 +vat on invoice

Finally got this sorted out. Must have been about the 6th booking for cylinder collection, they actually turned up this time! couple of days later had a phone call to confirm details for deposit return, day after that deposit returned. If I am kind, maybe I was unlucky but I cannot recommend them and will never use them again.
Slater I took your advice and contacted my local SGS supplier, 5 mins from me and 10L pure argon in stock, collected it this morning, perfect! It even turned out I knew some of the staff from many years ago so ended up having the who is still alive and working where conversation. Happy now I can get on.
