Hi folks
I have 2.8i Capri vented disks on my Mk1 Cortina, which failed its MOT recently as one of the calipers had seized. So I thought it was worth replacing disks and calipers as I had been getting some brake judder and the disks had quite a lip on them.
So I got refurbished calipers from Big Redd and a fitting kit from Burton Power. In putting everything back together a couple of questions arise which hopefully the RR collective can help with.
1. The calipers previously didn't have anti-rattle shims/springs fitted - do I need them, and does anyone have a diagram of how they go together (it is this type):-
2. When putting the disk and caliper back together, I noticed that the disc seems to be slightly off centre in the caliper i.e. the distance from the face of the disc to the machined inner face of the caliper is 1.5mm different from one side of disk to the other. Does this matter - in checking the side I haven't yet changed it seems similarly off centre and the brakes have worked fine albeit with a bit of judder at times.
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
Here's the car in question (not that it helps!)
cheers
