I posted Halo up on here when I first bought her and completely forgot all my login stuff and it stopped there but no with new energy from a new build I thought I'd post Halo back up too!!
Iv'e always had one car that stood above (not literally it's tiny) all others...the one car that if i had to trade all my toys in and only ever have one it'd be this car... The mighty mini clubman, something caught me from a young age with these cars, my dad bought me up on a variety of cars but the jaguars and minis stood out and how do you combine the two in a 6 year olds head...a square nose mini of course!!
The story so far...
So with eBay telling me day in and day out of the mini clubmans being advertised and me a lowly apprentice at the time could only stare in blind hope for an idiot who had no idea of the value of these cars...a few beers later and the likely hood of qualifying into a job just around the corner I risk a few bids and I give you my new toy 'Halo'
She hasn't missed the rust train by any stretch of the imagination but you know what she was just within my budget (no she wasn't i had to sell most my stuff so i could eat that month) pulls great and I was in love... She bounced me homeracing following a good friend of mine...first trip and she showed a ton, I was over the moon!
So in celebration of this new purchase a trip to McDs was called for, what better way to show up the local youths than with a couple of tiny classics...
So the next few weeks went by with a few minor modifications, center exit 1.75 inch exhaust, high lift roller rockers, fletcher hoses and Ali rad and a nicer intake, this followed by a service and then down to Slark for a tune up and she made 72bhp... we will need to work on that but for now that we a surprisingly nice torque curve she kept me smiling for every mile.
So more tinkering and playing whilst I was still on my baby wage so i tried to keep it to 'make it look better for cheap' tricks, and i wasn't feeling the silver headlight surrounds so out came some black paint
then i qualified into a proper job with okay pay i looked into handling taking inspiration from one of my child hood friends dads i started searching for some Allycats but turns out JBWheels make a brand new rep and they came fitted with tires so that had to happen and well I thought she was looking a little thin and needed fattening up a bit...so carbon fiber arches it is!!
after the wheels were fitted it was now time for a fully adjustable suspension set up and i went all out if it could be adjusted and MiniSpares sold it damn straight i was buying it!
with all that set up and Halo running well I racked on the miles and a fair few months of ownership had gone by and it was time to decide do the bare minimum to get another MOT or take halo back home to my mum and dads in wales where i have some storage space where I can start the real project work...KILL THE RUST!! and with the weather getting cold and this being my dream car sense prevailed
So back home to Wales we went...and if you're thinking that looks like a bit of a sketchy towing set up...you'd be right! (way too heavy a set up for my daily shitbox)
But we made it home in one piece and my dream mini got to meet my first ever mini
and over Christmas she went from piece to pieces and I went from thin to fat....THANKS MUM!
and the interior too
all that done she is still waiting for my metal work/paint guy to take her away as I'm too busy with work and inexperienced to do the metal and paint work on my dream car I'll leave that to someone better...and as the months still tick by and she is still sat there my mind has wondered into the horse power department...
so that's going to be happening!! but until then I'm still in love with my current phone screen saver...
and I will keep you wonderful people up to date on my dream cars progress...let you in for a little secret Halo and I've had a chat...We are going to aim for 200bhp per ton...FOREVER A DREAMER!!
