Have had different thoughts from different people regarding the wear on these bearings. They have come from a fresh built bottom end where crank was polished within spec, assembly lube used and done approximately 900 miles including a running in period. Main bearing Rod To me and a few others, it looks like the rod bearing had a layer on it from new that wears off and not caused by the very sort period of low oil pressure. Thoughts?

Hi, Rubbish in the oilways not cleaned out properly, either the block or the crankshaft?

Quite possibly. The oil pump chain snapped while out on track but engine was quickly switched off.I think the majority of the wear was done before this happened. Couple of people have told me the coating on the rod bearing(second pic) is meant to wear off, in that case it looks reasonably even

As above looks like it wasn't clean enough when it was built. They'll go again though as long as the grooves are only in the coating

Can you feel any grooving with a fingernail or is it just polished areas? If just/mostly polished then I'd say consistent with running a very short time with no oil. Time enough to polish but not enough to burn/melt. Clearly you turned it off promptly. Would probably go again if they had to but seeing as you plan to use it hard I'd fit new while it's apart.

Just polished areas really. Think I caught it just it soon enough. Will 100% get the crank polished up and new bearings in
