Apologies if this isn't the correct forum for this, but a friend of mines Dad passed away this year and he's been thinking about tracking down his old Kit Car/Special. It's an Ashley 1172, originally registered in Belfast, reg 342 PZ. DVLA online search doesn't throw up anything. It was built on a Ford 10 chassis and used a sidevalve ford engine. It was a fixed head model, which looked like this: If anyone has any info on its whereabouts or history, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hi Crankcase, I would like to help you with this Ashley, I am the online Ashley Registra in as much that I have many Ashley websites with each one containing a Registration Index of all the known Ashley cars listed, this has been constructed over the past few decades by myself in conjunction with the UK Ashley Unfortunately the Registration No. you have listed - 342 PZ, is not known to us which is a pity as we would normally have some history of the car, which would in most cases result in me writing up and publishing a webpage for it. See www.ashley1172.weebly.comI would like to add your friends fathers Ashley to this site but would have to have more lnformation and photo's if he has any, I will of course add the Registration No. to the Ashley 1172 Index. As there is no DVLA listing it's likely that it never made it onto the electronic system back in the late 1970's, however it could have been re registered at a date since then under a different number, this is where information about the car and photo's help, please get back to me, using my website contact page, this page or my Email shown on my websites. Thanks, Ivor

Crankcase,
Please keep me informed and I will compare any photo's you find with my photo databank and of course make that webpage.
If you and your friend are interested in seeing some similar specials, Ashley's and others from the 1960's there is a Specials display day on 13th August at Burford, near Oxford, see the web site I indicted previously.
Cheers, Ivor

Hi Crankcase,
Just wondering if your mate has found any old photo's or details of the Ashley that his dad had, would love to have copies to build up a webpage for him. Hope to hear from you soon if so as I'm in uk at present and you email them to me.
Cheers, Ivor

Hi Crankcase,
Last year, July 2017 you asked "Apologies if this isn't the correct forum for this, but a friend of mines Dad passed away this year and he's been thinking about tracking down his old Kit Car/Special. I replied and your mate was trying to find some photo's of the car for me.
I was in UK at the time and I forgot all about it at the time and have only just come across the notes I made at the time.
Did the photo's ever get found, if so I would still like to get copies for my website, also any other details like Colour, mechanical's, etc Did anyone else get back to you about it or even finding it.
Thanks,
Ivor Coster

ikos, if you put an @ in front of crankcase name, he probably gets a message if he's still around...

Unfortunately as it's a delicate situation (his mum has the documentation and surviving pictures), info won't be fast in coming, it may be months.
I did ask him for permission to give the surname, but didn't get a straight answer, I'll ask him again when the time is right. I do know he's still very keen to track this, or at least a similar car down.

Thanks Crankcase, keep trying, did your mate know what colour the car was?
Will re-colour the photo I used on the webpage if he knows, it might jog someone's memory.
Cheers.
