Hello all, I'm hoping there is someone on here with knowledge/experience of the above mentioned cars. I may be buying a 1983 Dodge Diplomat which looks in really good shape but don't know much about them. Are there any areas in particular I need to be aware of? I understand the engine is actually fairly bullet proof but I don't know how they cope with UK (wet) weather in terms of corrosion issues. I know the car passed it's MOT only 2 months ago with no advisories so it looks good in this respect. Any advice greatly appreciated

I've had many and they are bullet proof end to end! They don't rust as badly as many cars from that era and the 318/727 combo is unstoppable.

727 is a model designation for the one of Torqueflite auto trans commonly used on Chrysler corp models.

Also I've just found the front screen has a crack outside the 'zone' is it difficult to get screens for these?

I think they had 727/904/999 for the optional (three speed) automatics. All of them are derivitaves of the 727 and all of them are great as long as you keep fluid in them. If you somehow luck into a manual the trans is really a truck transmission and the shift point are wacky. I've never seen a manual in a diplomat but did have a 79 Lebaron coupe with a four speed. They all do nice smoky burnouts haha.

Thanks for all the replies The car is pretty much identical to this. (apart from the badges) I already have some lowrider style wire wheels lined up so hopefully all will fall in to place on the weekend Have yet to see the car and wheels but hopefully will be happening on Saturday.
