I may be a little biased but I think the VW Type 3 looked great as a convertible; Type 3 convertable by Dave Campbell, on Flickr This was due to be an official part of the Type3 range and was featured in the first batch of brochures but due to structural/rigidity problems it never made it to market. My mates gran has a Riley elf. Which is a convertible she won it as a prize. Very nice looking old thing Aswell. And I seen a Crayford fiesta convertible and a mk1 mini too. That must be one of the Heinz Riley elf's, very rare and very sought after i believe. if its a genuine heinz car the reg should prefix 'LLH' lucky mates Gran

Metro Cabrio, factory built. Look closely at the model's face. She was asked to smile, she couldn't bring herself to actually touch the thing, and managed but a grimace.

Hmph. I was hoping I'd get to post the Skoda Favorit MTX Cabrio first but I got beaten to it. I'm going to post another picture anyway because I think they look cool - when the roof is down. And then I'm going to post up a picture of a BMW E36 Cabriolet. Not the nice, factory designed one that you're thinking of, but the Baur interpretation... Compact AND SALOON...

I saw one of the Corsa Cabrios by the beach last week, a few cars away from a K11 Micra of the same design, I thought it was a decent home brew effort, never realised they were factory.

BMW E34 M5 Convertible E30 Baur's are pretty well known, and the E36 Convertible is common, but I only recently found out there was a Baur E36 as well.. Jaguar X300 Convertible (think it was badged as a Daimler variant) EDIT: Woops! Surprisingskoda beat me to the E36 Baur!
