Finally turned the corner after 2 years of pain with the Audi. Its a 83 CL with wider steel wheels, lowered springs, braided flexible hoses and thats it. I would like to insure it as a daily commute/driver. The big discounts come for a classic policy with a 3k mile limit. If I drive the car through the winter I will rack up nearer 7k. So far I haved tried Lancaster, HIC and SKY all have baulked at the daily and parked on the road consequently the loadings are quite high Can anyone recommend any insurer out there that will just insure it as a modified car, before I try ringing around again on Friday. For yet another insurance question a picture would be in order. Look at that 70' dash ......

Give Classicline a bell, got three policies with them and they're top notch (21 quid for mid term adjustments which I do a lot)

That's a surprise, I insured a 924 as a daily when I was 23 a few years ago. Most wouldn't touch me because of the Porsche badge but Lancaster realised it was just a 2 door Audi 80 lol.
Try Brentacre, I'm with them at the moment through an ad on this site.

Greenlight. They pretty much knocked me over when I insured my R53 with them. Four times as much mileage at half the price as the next best competitor and even better, any modifications that do not result in a direct power increase are free to add to the policy.
They get a thumbs up and a recommendation from me.

Another one for Greenlight.
Been with them on and off for years, very easy to deal with and have no issues with mods.

I had all kinds of trouble getting quotes for 10k mileage per year on my Granada. Adrian Flux were the only ones that could do it as a modified rather than modified classic policy. That was a few years ago though, and they have been good for quotes ever since. It may help you out if you do have a second car though, that seemed to be a limiting factor on a few of the policies when getting quotes

Brentacre insured me for years on my old Passat which was modified doing 15k miles a year.

Its been interesting.....
So declaring mods, commute to work and parked on road. Nearly all of the above have wanted to put me on Classic policies and have come in around the same price, about £50 in it. All allowing a maximum of 7.5k to 8k miles.
2 have quoted for just modified on 10k miles and are roughly £100 more.
pro's and cons's?

I used to run a Rover P6 V8 as a daily. Insurers got right funny, and the only insurer who didn't baulk at me using it as a regular car and insuring it on a regular policy was Swintons. They weren't too badly priced either.
Unfortunately, I had to sell it to go towards paying for my divorce. You'd have thought the ex would have been OK with me doing her sister, keeping it in the family, but she had this daft idea that it was a bad thing in some way.
