I can confirm Mini & Land Rover and other Leyland stuff all had the stalk on the right. The same slightly crappy Lucas stalk...
Makes life interesting changing from one to another but bit like right and left hand drive you kind of adjust.

That was really annoying in my K10 Micra, getting out of work vans for the drive home, come to the junction, wipers on, swear, indicator on

Worse when you squirt your windscreen in annoyance with some tool!

Not really something that drives me mad but on a similar theme to wiper/indicator thing above. I have a few cars (very lucky so no complaints) but one is a Delorean, left hand drive, manual, but hand brake on your left. Lotus Espris, right hand drive, manual but handbrake way upfront on the right. 5 series BM, auto, handbrake as normal. Expert van right hand drive manual, gears on dash, handbrake on right. New Kuga, right hand drive, manual, daft electronic handbrake, just a switch. Then throw in, some are petrol some diesel, it can get a little confusing!

"wrong side" indicators are the one thing that drive me nuts too...but I consider that to be the right hand side anyway! everything I have always taken in my stride , probably as in my first week on the road I had driven petrol , diesel, floor change , column change , automatic , lever handbrake , umbrella handbrake etc etc.....

My 1970 Morris Minor Traveller has the Lucas indicator stalk on the right. It looks a bit flimsy but has lasted very well. The BMW E39's fuel filler recess is a poor bit of design that allows water to sit in the bottom, with the inevitable bubbling and rusting that follows. Not to mention the windscreen washer bottle placement ahead of the offside sill, which develops leaks due to perished rubber grommets then rusts the front half of the sill out (which is of course, hidden from view by a full length plastic cover underneath that traps the moisture in). Poor show for an otherwise very well designed car.

Electric Handbrakes.
Whats wrong with a good old lever?
yes this is linked to doing handbrake turns.

Bringing this back to retro cars, The Morris Marina dashboard that angled the radio away from the driver. And while we're here, how many different shades of brown can we spot here?

Everything in the 70s was brown My favourite is the velour in a fetching shade of "Bookies' Lung Cinnamon"

Last night I followed a 17-plate Peugeot without his back lights on. Pulled up alongside and the dash was lit up. Pulled past and the lights on the front were on. This means that this guy was driving around on his "daytime running lights" at night, which I'd guess are the default setting when the car is turned on.

Oh, and those front spot lights on moderns that light up one at a time when you go around a corner. Distracting to drive a car with them and worse when you come across one.

By the way about back lights. Realy hate when some fools tinned rear lights. We don't have a clear law about this, and we don't have tech check every year, like MOT test in GB. So some fagots do this.

Loads (if not all) of modern cars are like this. I've lost count of the amount of drivers that I've seen driving in the dark like this.

One thing that (as an owner) always annoyed me more than it should was the horn grilles not lining up with the indicators on the S1 XJ6, see below. When really it should be like this: For the life of me I can't spot a difference. Can you point out which bits are different?

Loads (if not all) of modern cars are like this. I've lost count of the amount of drivers that I've seen driving in the dark like this. DRLs are far too bright. A number of times I've been driving early in the morning, just as it's beginning to get light, and not realised that I'm running on DRLs for a few minutes.

Was following a newish Fiat 500 the other evening - the one with the "surround" rear lights. Trouble is, the bottom of each side of the light is a different height, so one side of the light is very slightly higher than the other. Drove me insane! Can you circle on the image where the differences are? It looks completely normal to me?

Its not so much the design of the light thats the issue, its the way they light up See how the inner section of the lights goes all the way down to the indicator, yet the outer section just fades away

Can you point out which bits are different? Can you see the small gap between the indicator and the red line? It's now inline with the grills

If I caught my leg on this blanked-off side exhaust, that would drive me mad.
