So after 8 years in storage I would guess the twin 40's on my ZS will need some TLC before performing well, or at all.
They wer in perfect working order prior to being laid up, but time will have taken it's toll I assume. What should I be looking at? A simple clean? Strip down and rebuild?
Any recommendations on the best book for this? I assume parts that fit for DCOE's also fit?

So after 8 years in storage I would guess the twin 40's on my ZS will need some TLC before performing well, or at all. My Firenza has twin 48s on it, which I've recently discovered were fitted when it was almost new in 1976. I bought the car in 1986, took it off the road in 1987 while I found panels and someone (and some money) to fit them, and put it back on the road in 1998. The DHLAs have never been rebuilt while I've had the car. I've had all the easily-accessible stuff out to make sure it's not clogged up and I've done bits of fiddling to the idle mixture and balance, but other than that I've left well alone. I did have them off the manifold a couple of years ago for the first time, as I had some air leaks due to casting blocks not being flush with the back surface, too. As it performs reasonably well (to the extent that I need it to, as a road car) and can give ~34mpg on a steady motorway run, I'm not in a rush to disturb anything. I've got the Des Hamill book on rebuilding and tuning Weber and Dellorto carbs, and it seems pretty comprehensive, though as above the only thing I've really done is the initial setup. I believe Dellorto parts are quite different to Weber, but I've heard the name Eurocarb as well.
