In case anyone is an aspiring Johnny Bravo, I've spotted this lathe on a machinery auction site. www.1stmachineryauctions.com/lots/-hardinge-hlvhI covet it, but cannot afford it at present, so wanted to let others know. It's a Hardinge HLV-H which is considered one of the best 'small' lathes ever made. It's also metric, which is useful if you were born after 1970! It looks like it comes with lots of tooling including collects, chucks, toolholders, steadies and so on. It also has a high quality DRO fitted. I've bought through these guys a few times in the past and they're okay with private buyers as long as you don't mess them about! Just watch out, your bid is plus buyers fee and VAT. The major downside of this lathe is that they were all three phase. A few people have carried out single phase conversions, but they're not as easy as on simpler machines. If I could afford it, you lot would not be seeing it, and I would be buying up conversion parts!

We had 15 of those , along with Colchester's - The company who owned us , decided to re locate to France , Took all the CNC's , sold the Wickman Multi spindles - But scrapped all the lathes , we didnt get a option to buy them . Yhey where dumped in god knows how many skips and carted off :-( I managed to extricate two new vices , a heap of tooling , and racking . The amount of money they threw away was madness - But it was pennies for a multi billion pound firm I guess

Similar with a place i worked . We had a huge press , maybe 100 ton for making pressings for exhausts where you needed tight radii . For what ever reason they decided to get rid of it . I filled two large skips with male and female tooling for perhaps every concievable diameter of tubing you would use to make specialist exhausts for anything .
It would have been a god send to another specialist exhaust manufacturer but i suppose they didnt want to help anyone .
Must have been hundreds of thousands of pounds in tooling
