I've not used Nitromors for years but the last time I did it worked VERY WELL, blistering and lifting the paint within a minute or two. But today I used it (not car related) and I can report that it's definitely not the product it used to be. It doesn't blister as quickly or as much and it required a lot of re'applying. Althought it says on the tin that it's stronger and faster acting!.
Have the Environmentals forced them to remove the chemicals that actually make it a good product?.

I used some environmentally friendly stuff I got from home base, it was a sort of thick blue gel, it worked very well as I remember.

Yes, the last time i used it I had to reapply it umpteen times. Doesnt seem like it was what it was. Is anything?

You want a paint stripper containing dichloromethane and phenol. Both removed from Nitromors, now. As a rule, any stripper in a metal tin is sh!te. You want one in a plastic container.

I used to use nitromors, then one day i bought some and yes, it was utter dross. I tried some Rustins paint stripper and TBH i wouldnt bother looking for anything else, it works really well.

I've been told that to get it to work better, you can wrap the part in cling film after applying the paint stripper. Not tried it yet but will be testing that tip out in the near future. Nitromors and the like have been pretty weak since removing the decent ingredients.

You can buy dichloromethane separately quite easily. Mix this with a standard paint stripper and then you'll have something worth using. I do it with great results.

Another one for starchem synstrip. I go by the method of if you can get it on your hand and it don't feel like you're re-enacting a certain fight club scene, it ain't going to be worth bothering with.

Another thumbs down from me for nitromors. I bought some to do a couple of bits on the Vespa a while back and it was utterly useless, didn't penetrate at all and I was using the thick application and cover with film method to aid rubbing it in and to stop it evaporating (if that happens) and letting it sit, never even heard the commonly known bacon sizzle.

Nitromors is like wallpaper paste these days.
+5 for Starchem Synstrip. And at around £20 for a 5 ltr (plastic) can it's pretty good value too.
You always know the stuff is good when you unscrew the cap and see vapours escaping like a heat haze out of the neck!!

Works just as good for household chores, stripped the banisters in my house rolling resto, used the heat gun first nitromors and wire wool final clean up, works just as well as the last time I used it for the same job different house15 years ago.

I have some stuff at the moment called 'strip away pro' I think. Found it to be a bit better than starchem. Plus one for just buying dicholromethane off ebay tho.

Funny that as I keep Nitromors in stock - and the other product we buy from the same company is Solvite Paste lol.
Agree - it's curse word.

I went and got some paint stripper from my local paint place today, it was fantastic don't know what it was called as the container he decanted it from had no branding only some scary looking warning symbols on it
