I do not get on with electrics, I am clearly not logical enough. Help! So, I am wanting to swap my current torpedo indicators for a different set. Why? Purely to be able to run a clear lens, rather than amber. In order to this, I have had to purchase a single contact replacement, in order to get a bulb that illuminates amber. You can't get an amber bulb for the original figment. So, I can't figure out how to wire the new torpedo fitting. The original fitting has 2 wires (green and black) and dual contact for the bulb. The new fitting has 1 wire (red) and single contact for the bulb. The car has 2 wires leading to the fitting (green and black). How do I connect the new fitting with 1 wire to the original 2 wires in the loom? I have tired every combo I can think of, and nothing. I seriously hope it is embarrassingly obvious rather than just incompatible. Thanks

The new single contact holder will earth through the body so only needs one wire.
What were the old lights? Odd that it had a twin filament holder.
Edit, so they are indicators...
did they have a twin filament bulb or one filament and two connectors?
It looks like you only need to connect one wire from the loom, the other one leave disconnected. Lamp wont light unless holder is bolted to vehicle to complete the earth.
Now you just need to double check which loom wire is power.

The original fitting has 2 wires (green and black) and dual contact for the bulb. Is it just me that sees a black wire and a red wire, and no sign of a green wire?

I had assumed that I would just be able to connect the holder to the ignition wire. I must admit that I was only testing with the holder on the floor, hence not earthed. The one further complication is that the holder is being mounted to a fibreglass mudguard, rather than metal body. I guess this means I will have to run an earth from the holder to the vehicle chassis? Thank you, I think I can give it another go now!

Solder a bit or wire to the housing, and stick a ring terminal on the end. Bolt that to anything clean and metal on the car (where your mudguards mount to the body is a good shout). Then the single wire that is there, that goes to whichever of the other wires is live (betting green). Were the old bulb holders mounted on your mud guards too?

Sorry, forgot to update the thread. All sorted easily once I followed the advice on here. I just took the Earth wire that was Already going to the holders, and secured them to the new holders with some abro steel (don't own a solderer). All working fine. Thanks for the help!
