Idiot's question time- What are the three coloured blobs on the side window? Lights of some sort? (and if so why?) Amazing car by the way. I don't know for sure but my guess would be low light car identification for teams running more than one car on track with similar livery. Similar to that which you see on le mans cars and endurance racers. Driver 1, white light, driver two orange light, driver 3 blue light. I think sometimes they can also be illuminated to show position in class. I Think you could be right, this car does run in multi driver endurance events as it did back in the day. In fact it was at Spa Classic a couple of weeks ago and then straight to the Ring for another Historic race.

Having wondered about this light theory I had the perfect opportunity to check it out because the N24 was on this weekend just gone, they seem to use this method now because I don't recall seeing any cars with differing amounts of lights illuminated on the sides other than to make the door numbers show up, note top right (drivers perspective) of the window with illuminated numbers. That's his overall position (see EDIT). This poor Manta suffered a love tap by a Ferrari and span off into gravel shortly after sunrise, spent about an hour in the pits before going back out on track with a slightly bent rear end and lots of tape. /photo/1 (the manta damage) EDIT : that manta probably isn't the best example since the number on the screen is the same as the car... here's a good example although not at all retro.
