You have two choices. 1) Visit a forum that caters for your car and ask on there, someone will deffo know and then you can exchange the battery. 2) You pop out and get some poz and neg straps and extend what you have. Job done.

I had a similar issue with my Patrol - the battery which was fitted had the terminals the wrong side, and the cables stretched over. When I came to replace it, the recommended battery was too tall to fit under the bonnet. I ended up trawling the internet for a battery with the terminals the correct side and of the right dimensions, and which had enough oomph to turn the engine over. Also I was fortunate to have a decent motor factors nearby who had lots of batteries in stock and didn't mind pulling out a few likely batteries for me to have a look at. To be fair most branches of Halfords normally have plenty of batteries in, you could take your old dead one in and compare it.

I use Tayna, www.tayna.co.uk. They list all batteries by model number as well as application, and have all the dimensions and terminal orientations/sizes listed as well as the specs. They're delivered next day and are as cheap if not cheaper than anyone else. Really couldn't be easier. A lot of Jdm cars use a different spec battery to UK spec models of the same car, u found this with my Eunos. The battery everywhere local was trying to sell me was physically too big to go In the battery tray, so I just bought one with the same cca/ah but the right size from Tayna.

Whatever battery it is there will be one the same size with the terminals the other way around. What make and number is the battery?

Ignore the chart. Go to the shop and find the biggest, gruntiest size battery that will fit in the battery cradle, then make sure the one you buy has the terminals on the correct side.

I only ever buy batteries using the code for this very reason. Once you know the type you want, most have the terminal layout on the listing.
Much quicker when you own two imports!

That's all very well if your car is new enough to be listed on the chart. Many of us have old cars.

I had a similar issue with my Patrol - the battery which was fitted had the terminals the wrong side, and the cables stretched over. When I came to replace it, the recommended battery was too tall to fit under the bonnet. This can be a brand problem. On my Alfa the Unipart battery was too tall to take a clamp. I've noticed this on the E36 where the height is critical for getting the top cover/keeping your stuff in the boot literally nowhere near the battery. The Halfords and Bosch items however were fine. All 3 batteries were the same size 'no'.
