I was going to ask about that Speedback GT, it looks to me as if it's not an Aston Martin at all, but a heavily re-modelled fairly new Mustang. I'd also say the Mitsouka started life as a new MX-5.

Even if, I like it more than any original Aston or Mustang. Except the wheels, they do not match the heavy chrome nostalgia look. And that Mitusoka might be some BMW or Mazda underneath - with a wider wheel base. The Speedback GT is actually a heavily reworked jag XKR , made by David brown automotive, but coincidentally he's no relation to the Aston martin David brown, also of tractor and gearbox frame. Also just found this www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-reviews/17821/mitsuoka-himiko

I, too, was going to ask about the DB6-shaped rear end of that "Speedback GT" cos it looked ace. Then I saw @automatik 's pic of it from the front and I had to rush off to be sick into my own mouth How can you get the front sooooooo wrong after that ass?

That´s actually dbizzles'pic, too. Then he ought to have a damned word with himself If he'd just left it with the rear pic I'd have been able to die happy

Personally i quite like the front, its those damn awful wheels that ruin it for me! Having said all of that i'll never have to worry about it, i'll never have a spare £600k to buy myself one in the first place!

That white mini looks nice, but why those lights? Why would you do that? That Speedback GT looks ace from the back, but the front looks like a slightly deformed MINI. I'm not quite sure what id do for wheels on it, but i don't think it would be that, mabie some big old wires like that matt black etype.

It's a lot for a Mini, on paper - but that's not really the point of it. It's not just some nicely restored Mini - think of it sitting in collections alongside Singer 911s and Eagle E-Types. It's an ultra-premium product, a high-end restomod. They take a classic donor, keeping enough bits of it to allow them to retain its original identity (engine block, basic architecture, blah) and then strip it down to first principles and build it up better than new. The bodyshell receives an improbable amount of work - when they deseam it they put oodles of strengthening on the inside, it has super-sturdy crash protection inside the doors and so on, and it's got about a dozen layers of paint on there. The interior is uber-posh too: DSC_3179 by dbizzle_, on Flickr

Whilst i full-on admire the quality of the work involved in that mini....... that is all I don't doubt that a lot of man hours have gone into that car. But for me,all the charm of the original mini has been taken out of it. Personally I hate deseamed minis add to the fact that they filled in all of the seams at the front and it just looks like the kind of bodged minis with some cheap bling thrown at it. 10 mins at a mini show and you could work out that 10-20k would net you a much better car. On another note, that green on that caterham is fantastic.
